The fact that Romina Saint of the Bud doesn't get a cutscene is a missed opportunity. How cool would it have been to have a Scarlet Rotted, centipede style Quelaag detail the splendor of the coming Age of Rot, maybe name-drop Malenia or try to convince the Tarnished that the best replacement for the dead and purifying Golden Order was an order whose cycle of rot and decay at least made sense?

Aesthetically I really like this boss because it gives at least something of an idea of what the Outer God of Rot looks like, given that the Scorpion Stinger in the Grand Cloister is said to be a relic of a sealed Outer God. It's also just....neat? It felt almost like a Nioh or Code Vein boss, but in Elden Ring style.

Howdy skeletons! This week Kris makes himself comfortable in the guest chair, and we go through his entire Souls story. Shadow of the Erdtree has some pretty incredible bosses, but for me, Midra is absolutely the best. Not just because of the fight itself, but the atmosphere and general vibe that leads up to that fight.

In fact, I kind of look at the Abyssal Woods and Midra's Manse area as the first thematic stage of the Midra boss fight.

Crawling through darkened woods tainted by unending madness, surrounded by inquisitors and the corpses they left behind, sneaking past eldritch stalkers and then battling a suffering, crazed scholar turned Lord of Frenzy in the ruins of his library...man, that shit just GOT me.
