What is a liminal space? Pt.1
To give the liminal space a solid, unchangeable definition would be a dishonor to the beast it describes.
It is a kaleidoscopic mechanism, taking on several different forms so that one space could never resemble another physically.
One can only know what a liminal space is based on how they feel, and even feelings can be misleading.
Liminality is synonymous with “in-between” or a period of transition, as in, a place between here and the next.
Now and then.
Before and after.
A liminal space, therefore, is a place—either organic or inorganic—that is petrified between what was and what will be.
It seems to exist in a timeline all its own, stuck in a slow, subtle transition.
