Capping off a chaotic day, Hans shows his new guests around the old fort... You know, it's actually kind of a cozy place at night! Just don't look too closely at things during the day.

I queued these photos from a late September visit to Prickett’s Fort State Park in my “to-be-posted” bin and then forgot about them. At the time, the Prickett’s Fort Memorial Foundation was offering limited tours of the reconstructed frontier fort (groups of six people or less with masks required), but the usual workshops and sales of homemade goods were curtailed. In more normal times, one of the staff’s volunteers pens her own sheep at the fort for wool, which the staff meticulously rove and hand-spin into yarn. During the pandemic, the sheep have been allowed to graze in peace at a nearby meadow (much to their relief, I’m sure).
I got to visit a frontier fort, and couldn’t resist leaving my mark at the ‘quill pen and ink’ demonstration! 😊
