Frontier Hunting Journal 01
Meeting with the Tutorial Master
Arrival in Mezuporta!
If you need help with translation for the inteface and menus, go here.
You may want to create your Felyne Companion, refer to my guide.
To complete the tutorial, speak to the Tutorial Master and he will give you a Trial Quest to hunt a Gogomoa. You will have to scroll through his dialogue, take out supplies, and deliver a Coin from the Supply Box to the Delivery Box. Once you do this, the path to the Gogomoa will open up (otherwise there's an invisible wall).
Complete!
After you complete this, he will walk you around the town. When he leads you into the Blacksmith Room, you will have to purchase a Premade Weapon from the cat. It will be an Upgrade from your starter weapon. Then He'll tell you about joining a Hunting Team (Guild), his dialogue will keep repeating forever unless you move your response option over.
Next we can take on our first Daily Quest
HR1~ Hunt a Yian Kut Ku in the Island Forest!
Next, we can craft our first weapon. If you don't have a Premium Kit Weapon, or just want to make Weapons of a different class, there is an event quest which offers the best weapon that can be made at this HR.
First, we can find it using the quest search function. This is the last option at the quest giver.
Hunt a Bulldrome and a Yian Kut Ku!
This is the Sword and Shield, but an equivalent weapon exists for every single weapon class.
We should also purchase Power and Armor Charms.
Next, the highest HRP (non premium) quest we can do once our Daily is on cooldown.
Great Training in the Snowy Mountains! Hunt 2 Bulldromes, 12 Blangos, and Plant the Guild Flag!
After hunting everything required, you can plant the flag to complete the quest.
You plant the item from the supply box at the designated purple spot.
I continued to hunt various things for HRP. If you want to make armor, the Gogomoa set gives Evade+ and Attack, and his weapons are pretty good for HR1-99 once you upgrade them.
Urgent Quest!
Once you reach HR10 speak to the Double Sworded Guild Master Woman.
Hunt a Daimyou Hermitaur and 5 Hermitaurs.
That's all for today~

Frontier Paid Rank Up Guide
I'm just piecing together a JP rank up guide, this isn't my info, link below-
Even solo play is "easy" if you make full use of NPCs.
Purchases-
"Hunter Cheer/Support Course" (contains Assist and Secret Notes Courses)
"Premium Course"
"Extra Course"
If you're not in Japan you won't be able to access the "N course" bonuses mentioned in the guide, because they require you to connect from a Network Cafe that is partnered with Capcom, in Japan.
If you do not login for 7 days, you will be offered a boost time upon logging in. It gives 5x gains for 100 minutes.
The author claims that combing this with the benefits of the paid courses, you can reach HR999 and SR999 (AKA GR1) somewhere between an hour and a hundred minutes- cutting down by atleast 200 hours of playtime. If you're going to make use of this, make sure your character has completed all necessary preparations, is atleast HR11, has a Partner Character, Felyne, etc. You don't want to waste any of your 100 minutes.
The guide shows that with all of the above bonuses the HRP bonus of each Urgent Quest is far more than the total HRP required to rank all the way up to the next Urgent Quest, so you will just go from Urgent to Urgent to Urgent without any quest inbetween.
However, we can expect it to be somewhat slower than this without the Nekafe (Net Cafe) bonus.
It's most efficient to capture the monsters.
If you don't have a Cash Shop Weapon (Fate/Zero, Madoka, Attack on Titan, Infinite Stratos, Etc.) the below is recommended-
HR1-99 Gogomoa Weapons
HR100-500 Zeru, Mera, Barraruga, Diorex weapons
HR500-999 (SR1+) Upgrade above weapons, HC carves available from Black Rathian (Kuro Reia)
The guide suggests that you don't immediately take the contract to reach GR1 upon reaching HR999 and SR999 and that you should reach SR999 with two or three weapons.
You should equip your Partner Character with a poison or para Sword and Shield and your Assist Course NPC with a para Sword and Shield.
Using the quest search function and searching by HRP reward will be effective if you haven't yet reached your next urgent.
If this all makes the game seem "pay to win" to you, keep in mind that Frontier is 7 years old. This is all just a pay-assisted way of speeding up to G-Rank, the current content which was added in 2013, to catch up to people who have been playing the game for years. This is the effect of Frontier being an MMO.
Original JP link
For the 7th(!) anniversary of Frontier, Capcom held a “THANKSGIVING 2014 VS. Champion Quest Event”. This is the first match(?) of the Finals. Here are games two, and three. I’m unsure of the rules, but it looks like the equipment was mandated because they aren’t using mixed sets, and appear to be forced into alternating between various weapons for each match. Some pretty impressive play in some parts : )
The west needs more Monster Hunter!! Japan already has Monster Hunter 4 AND Frontier G! so unfair.
