Getting Started Guide

This guide will cover everything you should do immediately after successfully launching the game after following my Signup and Setup Guide.

Since everyone keeps asking : it does not matter what world/land/lobby/room you choose when first logging in. There is only one server and these are all on that one server, you can change between these worlds and lands instantly and at anytime, just choose the one on the first tab that says "HR30" if you're just starting.

First, you should speak to Guide Daughter to receive all of your free stuff. This includes the current campaign Kurode Armor which is the best thing you can have before HR100.

There are alot of free things to claim, make sure you get them all. Anything in red cannot be claimed yet, anything white make sure you get and it will be removed from the list. Once you've double checked that you got everything from all of her menus after the fourth one when you first speak to her, you can craft Kurode.

It gives speed eating, wind pressure, earplugs, and Crit+2. If you need help navigating the blacksmith menu, check my Town and Interface guide.

Next you should reach HR2 (do a quest or two) and apply to join an English speaking Hunting Team (Guild/Ryo-dan). In an effort to not seem like I'm monopolizing poaching newbies, I'll tell you that there are three English speaking Guilds you can join. In order of age

Halk Republicans

Devilbros

Blank (my guild)

We (blank) are entering into an ingame Alliance w/ Devilbros and I'm friendly with several Halk Republic members, so join whichever appeals to you. I will say that currently Blank has alot of low ranking members that new players could party with, since many people following my guides have joined, while Halk Republic has the most G Rank players. The guide for applying to a guild is here. The end of the guide hows how to talk in guild chat, where it's safe to speak English freely.

Next you will want a weapon, and there's an event quest that gives the best weapon for your early ranks :

Speak to the comprehensive quest giver and choose search. If you don't know how to do this, check my Town and Interface guide.

HR3~ Hunt 1 Kutku and 1 Bulldrome.

I'm showing the One-Hand Sword, but you can make a weapon of this series for every weapon class, repeating the quest however much you'd like.

You should also do your Daily Quest, activated at the Pink General Vendor and Taken from the bottom option of "Limited Quests" at the comprehensive quest giver. Details in the town guide.

Hello there and thank you for the awesome work! I have one teensy problem though. I followed all of the set up instructions hand have the game installed, yet when I click to launch it, I get taken to the website for the game and can't seem to do anything else... What do I do now? xD I couldn't find anything like that in your guides.

sounds like you're clicking on a shortcut to the site and not a shortcut to the launcher.

Try going into program files (x86) / CAPCOM / frontier - and clicking mhf.exe in that folder itself. If that is still opening the browser and not even attempting to open the launcher, and you're getting no error of any kind that you can send me a screenshot of, then I have no idea. Try reinstalling at that point I suppose.

Update on my Progress!

So I've (almost) finished making stuff until G-Rank and I thought I would create a little post showing my current set and progress : D.

HR : 799 SR : 719

Neguradobata - 710 Raw, 310 Sleep, Pink Sharpness. Rare 12 version of the Inagami Gance.

Earrings of Transcendence VI - Piercing acquired at HR600. This is why my points towards Wind Pressure Resist and Earplugs are so high.

Oruroju Set Hardcore Series - Homura Armor from the Madoka pack. Upgraded to its HR500+ Series.

Armor Skills!- (listed in the order pictured above)

That's nine active skills, one less than the max allowed~

I use Gance, and this set is suited for that.

Reckless Abandon (crit) is useless when using Heaven and Storm style because Heat Blade gives 100% critical chance, so I avoided it even though my set had loose points towards it that I could've gemmed in. That actually came in handy because it prevented me from getting a negative skill for Expert.

I have a slew of defensive skills, wind pressure, earplug, and guard AND evade+2. This increases damage output because it creates openings, and I think playing defensively is smart when you're learning a game.

Sharpness+1 is a big damage boost for every hit during Heat Blade and is always a nice skill.

Gunnery Master should be atleast King and I'm thinking of gemming it up more (1-3 slots left..)

Sharpsword+1 is really useful here, because it affects how much sharpness is lost when Heat Blade ends. This usually means the difference (depending on the weapon) between having to sharpen only once rather than twice after Heat Blade expires. I would also get Speed Sharpening as a Heat Blade skill since you're guaranteed to lose tons of sharpness everytime Heat Blade expires.

To get all of these skills I used the following 12 Gems-

(will update, G-Gems, that's G-Series not G-Rank)

I still have 1 slot in the helm and anywhere from 1-3 weapon slots, so I could get Fencing+1 (ESP) which I already have 5 loose points towards from the set, activating my tenth skill, which I might do later today.
