Welcome to the family Frostborn
♡ Happy Birthday, Malin! ♡
est. november 5th 1994
I hope you feel all the love and appreciation in the world today because you deserve that and more. You are beautiful and genuinely caring and I am so happy for your existence and having the opportunity to celebrate another year of your life together! Thank you so much for everything you do for me, from listening to me about my issues to trusting me with yours. You have been there for me through so much. I wish I could be there to celebrate with you in person. I love you so much with all my heart and soul. Have a wonderful day and here’s to many, many more birthdays ahead. ♡

Someone mentioned preferring a smaller image for their backgrounds, so I included a version for that this time around.

3. Genres and themes you’re interesting in reading more of?
Small-town intrigue, always. More to do with the sea; the bounty and the mercilessness and the brave folk who dare to take it on. Posh girls in school waiting impatiently to be unleashed on the world. Families who grew up too close, siblings twisted like parasite vines around each other. Kings and knights and conqueror-queens; weary philosophical detectives; angry teenagers seeking desperately for a way out of their lives.
5. Writers you love on Tumblr?
Honestly, I don’t follow much writing on Tumblr, only really other Platypus Press poets and bloggers I knew before we fell into poetry. @afterthelonely, @adavidajane, @venettaoctavia, @lotuscrowns, @medeae and @awfulmachinations are all top of my list. I also love @nosebleedclub - everything Stefan writes himself and reblogs there is beautiful. Otherwise the main blogs I read regularly to do with writing are ones concerned with ASOIAF meta. (I will read as many posts about The Grand Northern Conspiracy theory as people write!).
17. What are your key writing tools?
I’d love to say a beautiful notebook and pen, but I loathe my own handwriting and find it incredibly off-putting to write by hand, since I can’t look past the ugliness of the letters to find the words again. So my essential tools are my laptop (just a bog-standard HP, nothing fancy), and more recently my iPad which I use with a portable BlueTooth keyboard for easier typing.
That being said, I’ve started my first ever proper Project Notebook for a new idea that needs a lot of ticking over. I’ll start posting excerpts from that on my instagram shortly. I’m pretty proud of it, it’s a Kate Spade notebook my brother got me for Christmas and I think it’s starting to come together.
24. What has inspired you lately?
My manuscript project for my Masters in Writing for Young People is a murder mystery, so I’ve watched a lot of the BBC’s Wallander and fallen in love with sad, tired, bleeding-heart-lovely Kurt Wallander. Also pinterest, where I’ve started collecting novel/character inspiration for the first time in a while.
Most importantly, though, the writers around me at university. Not just my friends in my group but visiting speakers too - Annabel Pitcher, David Almond and Sarah Driver all spoke at our Summer Day on Thursday, and everything they said had me itching to get back to writing.
