I feel like SSO is undergoing almost... a Disney Dreamlight Valley-ification. It's not necessarily to do with the art style, at least not the art style alone, but it's like. The way every character and NPC has to be Conventionally Beautiful. Nice To Look At. Mrs. Holdsworth is an old woman but she can't be fat or have a cane anymore. Big Bonny gets to be weird and quirky and eccentric but she still has to meticulously style her hair and iron her clothes every morning. Every character has a little smile and a friendly twinkle in their eye, except for when they're Evil, and then you have to be able to Tell that they're Evil because they Look At You Evilly. Every character has to have perfectly smooth skin and look no less tidy than maybe "messy bun". idk obviously this is kind of a reduction and there are exceptions (like Anne who gets to look angry sometimes even though she's a Good Guy, though idk if that's really breaching the theme since she's also SUPPOSED to be kind of a rift in the Soul Riders), but I can't help but feel like star stables character design is too close to "perfection" and "beauty" and "aesthetically pleasing" to really be all that interesting.

According to a spoiler account on ig, the 300 sc image was always in the files, so before anyone suggests it, no, SSE is not just giving us the code to make us shut up and they didn’t change their mind after the backlash. We were always getting the SC.

it makes me feel a kind of way when i see SSO complaints that are just players not understanding very basic game and business logic.

"why don't they add XYZ?" SSO's framework is over a decade old, it has limitations as to what they can do.

"why are there always bugs when an update is released?" because not all bugs can be found in testing. this happens with every single game out there; there are singleplayer games from 15 years ago still getting bug fixes to this day.

"why does Star Rider cost $80?" you are getting over a DECADE of content, in the form of areas, quests, and star rider exclusives, as well as a weekly allowance of paid currency, for LIFE! A MAJORITY of MMOs charge annually ONLY, and a lot of those also charge you for new areas in the form of expansions on top of being billed monthly, half-yearly, or yearly.

"why don't they just remake SSO?" That's like deciding to tear down a mansion because you want to add a room onto it. Building games is HARD. And it costs a LOT of money.

"why does everything cost star coins, or a ridiculous amount of shillings?" because most of the playerbase bought lifetime membership YEARS ago; those funds have LONG since been used. SSE's revenue is mostly likely coasting on star coin sales.

"why isn't SSE more transparent about things?" Probably because of how consistently there's backlash to the smallest things. It doesn't look good for interested new players when your playerbase is actively hostile about the game, especially on official posts. The best damage control is to not cause damage in the first place.

SSE aren't saints or without fault, but I will say. I've been playing consistently for almost a year now, and they have fulfilled every promise they've made so far. And it's A LOT considering what was the starting product. Enjoy what we have! Celebrate the progress! And continue to anticipate and encourage what's to come!

am i the only who thinks the smallest body size is perhaps... too skinny?

i only chose it for lukas because that boy is a stick with net zero muscle mass. i would place an average bmi at 2 or 3

I wouldn’t call it too skinny personally - I know folks irl who are that thin, and especially at the age most SSO players are it’s 100% possible to look like that. It’s definitely thinner than the average person, but then again the thinnest body type isn’t meant to be average, just like the biggest body type also isn’t meant to be average. We definitely don’t need an even thinner body though (but of course a variety of body shapes in all the different sizes we have now would be very welcome).

i looooove the dressage but have a few thoughts

first of all i'm disappointed that it's the same thing every day, i thought it would change :(( but i'm sure we'll get other things later :)

i think the circles are too small in that they don't graze the line of the letter next to it... that's hard to explain but i'm sure anyone that's done real dressage knows what i mean :D

also the changing pace, i feel like you have to do it "too early" to get excellent, too early meaning that you're not quite where the letter is

that could be easily changed, i think, just with way smaller checkpoint circles

i think the daily mastery is also still way too easy, it should at least not show the walk/trot/canter text so that you'd have to remember it yourself. maybe even not show the checkpoints. then you'd really have to practice.

but (especially if they make dressage harder) practicing could be made more rewarding so that you'd get some horse xp from it too, maybe rewards from up to 3 practicing times or something. not much, but a little, like 50 xp etc
