Mr. Cables nodded to the servant as he placed the tray on his table. Mike looked up at him from the corner of his eye. He barely made any eddies as he swam backwards toward the kitchen.

“I realize it must seem strange but the topsiders eat eel,” said Mr. Cables, the green fronds atop his head swaying subtly in the warm, surface waters.

“Nothing against them but most things the topsiders do is strange,” said Mike. He looked over at Mr. Cables as he froze in the middile of cutting the eel with his knife. “Though that’s just my own opinion...” he said quickly.

“I see,” replied Mr. Cables before crunching down on a piece of his meal. “What news from below?” He asked.

Mike looked at the tray and then to his employer. “Not good. The few survivors of the Inner Community protest have spread the word that the surface will kill to keep them from good pay.” The servant, his light skin marking him as a deeper, finally returned with Mike’s drink. Mike nodded and took a sip from the straw inserted in the mermaid’s purse. A heavy sigh released from his gills as his body was warmed from the inside.

“You need to move fast. Organize some press gangs and search mobs to find these rabble-rousers and get them in the mines or into the pit,” said Mr Cables, the eel squelching in his mouth. He motioned for a drink and a large, shining metal container was brought to the table. Mike frowned when he saw it. “You like it? A topside container that won’t rust under water.” He chuckled before taking a swig from the straw extending atop of it. Mr. Cables’ gills fluttered heavily a few time before he slapped a heavy, clawed hand onto Mike’s arm. He pulled him close and stared into his eyes. “This needs to be quelled,” he hissed.

“Sure thing Mr. Cables. I’ll-” replied Mike before his employer cut him off.

“Quickly Mike,” he said before half flinging the smaller man back into his seat. Mr. Cables turned to meal and went on as if Mike wasn’t even there. Eventually he took the hint and the mermaid’s purse and swam away.

Team SoloUber picks up duwatna

Team SoloUber impressed many this previous season with a second place finish after defeating perennial champions froyotech in the lower bracket finals. This, of course, led to their disbanding, with several members of the team choosing to retire.

Unfortunately, the team has been dealing with roster issues along the way, as starting demoman xalox found himself unavailable. The team utilized Block as necessary during recent tournaments, but now have had to find a more permanent replacement.

They have now done so by picking up duwatna for the role. This is a reunion from the past, as he previously distinguished himself as part of  Street Hoops eSports (the predecessor to  Team SoloUber) in Season 16, in which the team defeated  Exertus eSports in order to secure a third place finish. He was then picked up by  froyotech, where he would play until their disbanding, picking up several titles along the way including four ESEA championships and two Insomnia wins. Initially, he had decided to take a break from the game, but he has chosen to link up with the successor of his old team, of which grape is currently the only remaining member from the original Season 16 roster, for the next season. He will be joined by frequent teammate  ash, who will back up for the team.

duwatna discussed his reasons for joining:

showstopper guilt-tripped me into joining saying they would disband if I didn’t comply, so I had no choice in the matter. It was either that or fear the wrath that is showstopper.

Actually, I just want to have fun this season and everyone on TSU are pretty chill. I assume we’ll do fairly well and have a fun filled season ahead.

Team captain showstopper gave the following statement:

First off, I would like to apologize for TSU’s poor performance in the grand finals of ESEA Invite playoffs. We played really poorly and our team wishes that we could have provided a more entertaining match for the fans and viewers.

With xalox stepping down due to his work schedule, we have decided to scoop up duwatna. Steve is generally considered one of the best demomen in the world, so the decision seemed obvious to us. With the recent death of the real froyotech, our goal for next season is to compete for the top spot in ESEA. I think this move is a step in that direction and we are looking forward to practicing with this current roster.
