Holy shit I love cookies perfect. And I totally feel you--I am studiously ignoring my 2 long fics from other fandoms that are currently glaring at me. And the long list of WIP prompts....

Can you share how to say “make/turn the judges into soap” in russian, please??? Now im curious!!!

Sorry it took me so long to answer this! The thing is that while I can understand and somewhat speak Russian, I never learned how to write and spell stuff, so I had to get my dad to tell me how to spell this.

“Судью на мыло!” [roughly pronounced: Sudju na milo] is what I’ve been saying this weekend, and apparently, it’s a well-known saying in Russia. It’s not entirely correct in this case though, since “Судью” is the singular form, so it actually means “Make the judge into soap!”, not “the judges”.

The plural form “Make the judges into soap!” would be “Судей на мыло!” [roughly pronounced: Sudeij na milo].

Maybe a more accurate translation would be “Make soap out of the judge/judges!” – The history behind this phrase is that bones and remains of dead animals used to be made into soap because they weren’t useful for anything else. And then at some point, fans of sports like football and ice hockey (where there’s only one judge) started to say “Судью на мыло!” (“Make the judge into soap!”) whenever they didn’t agree with a judging decision. So that’s where it comes from, and why my dad had the idea to apply it to figure skating – even though you’d technically have to change it to the plural form since there’s multiple judges.

I really love this saying – I think it’s my new favourite Russian phrase – and I’m going to keep saying it when the judges mess up :D

Sooooo, do you think Rika has a chance to win gold at nkh??? Like, kostornaya is better than the other twos but still not that good so....???

I think she has a chance, but I have no idea how high that chance realistically is. Beating Alina should definitely be possible unless her scores get inflated again. But this is Japan, where they like to inflate Alina’s scores. The competition between Alyona and Rika should be really close, but so far Alyona has been getting better scores this season. But then again, Rika has been injured so far and didn’t skate her most difficult layout. I have no idea if her ankle will have healed by NHK and if she’ll include the Lutz again - and if she’ll maybe try to go for the 4S. If she lands that, I think she definitely has a chance to win gold.
