Coconut shrimp

Tried out a new frozen item .. coconut shrimp! 

Have you tried it???

I got this bcos 1. it sounded easy to cook/heat up. 2. it’s already cooked, and 3. it was on sale! I am indifferent towards coconut, but have also been interested in this item for a long time. There’s just .. other foods to eat, you know? haha it has appeal but it didn’t appeal to me that much that I would buy it when it wasn’t on sale, you know what I mean? There are some things I don’t look at the price tag for but .. this ain’t one of those.

The package opened. They were pretty tiny!! Wow.. I was imagining like. .. I don’t know, bigger shrimps. These were like the size of cocktail shrimps (without the batter, of course).

They kinda shrunk in size after baking =/

eeeeek wasn’t a fan. Here’s why?

1. The batter was too thick =/

2. The texture of the shrimps were weird. They were kinda mushy & blended into the batter, if you know what I’m saying? If it weren’t for the fact that you can see the visible division of the shrimp & the batter, I think I would’ve treated the whole piece as “batter” or some form of dough.

3. Flavour was bland. There was a subtle coconut flavour bcos of the coconut shreds, & of course, you can always pair it with a sauce of your choice, but like. .. on its own, it was not tasty. It smelled very coconut-y when it just got out of the toaster oven though!

Sorry, failed product . .. will not get again.
