“Oh, Seraphina. Seraphina, darling.”
He’s draped across the most romantic prop he can find in a garbage-infested post-orgy ship from Sakaar: a rather large rectangular metal crate, over which he’s draped his yellow cape. He’s pawing the fabric now, half-ironically. “Darling. I have your very last fig on my person. Tis in one of my pockets. Have you the self-restraint to find it?”
“Is there hope for us, at all? You’re so distant lately, and you behave as though I frighten you when we are with our children.”
“i know this hurts, but you have to stay awake.”
“I don’t …. ! Intend upon taking a nap,” Loki grits, in a strained tone, through his teeth, as alarming pools of blood spurt from his stomach, and he has the strangest feeling of deja vu, and the overpowering sensation that Thor should be here, as well, and that scientist from Midgard with whom Thor has fallen in love.
He winces, easing himself slightly upright.
“My kingdom for a Soul Forge,” he growls, and his long slender ironclad fingers dig into her arm as a wave of pain passes. “Continue to speak to me so that I do not go into shock, and if you’ve healing spells in your arsenal, now is the time to use them.”
“when was the last time you ate?”
Loki regards his loving assailant with a look so caged it’s heartbreaking.
This is the third time a mysterious and massively powerful Midgardian goddess has approached him with claims of a bewilderingly rich lifetime together. And Loki, skilled beyond compare at reading others for lies or candor, can find no deceit from this woman.
Somehow, her kindness frightens him more than the personalized torments with which he has, in the past year, become accustomed.
“What is your aim?” he demands of her, velvety tenor as harsh and brutal as he can make it, backing toward the cave mouth–calculating, all the while, discerning that she somehow appeared before him without needing a physical entry point into his hideout. “Tell me, I pray, don’t insult my intelligence. For whom do you work? Has he really found me so quickly?”
Yes, he remembers the child called Seraphina, who was his friend, his sweetheart of innocent love, when both were displaced and forgotten and not even ten years old. But her apparition now, after his exit with the Tesseract, bearing his weary mind and beaten body the gift of idyllic memories, when he is well acquainted with Ebony Maw’s talent for customized psychological abuse, seems far too convenient.
just sidles up to him and nuzzles her cheek against his, taking comfort in his scent and in the coolness of his skin. “you are my favorite.” // i’m emo ab them
“I have never known what that is before you. To be the first choice.”
Loki twines his fingers in his wife’s. He presses his forehead to hers, without closing his eyes, and drinks in the sight of her.
“Thank you.”
she kees his cheek !
“ … . what’s going on, then? You’re being so uncommonly gentle.”
'we perhaps need to introduce a new topic of reading to kili.' she's leaning in the doorway, hands on her hips in concern. 'she's now convinced the palace is haunted and refuses to come out of her wardrobe. perhaps you can tell her how spirits work. that is more your school of magic than mine. and you know how she listens to you.' //im sry if this is a bother !
“Oho, dear. Who introduced her to ghost stories? Do not tell me it was Ragni. Or my brother, wishing to ‘score points,’ as it were, in his favor.”
Loki stands and strides decisively over to his queen, catching a strand of raven hair in his fingers. He tugs Seraphina by the hostage tendril toward Caecilia’s hiding place.
Soundlessly, he kneels before the cracked-open wardrobe door.
“Kili, lamb. Tis papa.” He knocks upon the door as if it were the entryway to a house. “Mama has told me you’ve taken a keen interest in the spirits of the departed. Would it help, if I showed you how to construct one of the wards that are dispersed all around the palace grounds, to seal us away from any ill-intended hexes? No, don’t move, darling. You needn’t even leave your cozy little spot. Just watch.”
