Y’know what I wanna yap about Bug fables today. I don’t post enough about Bug fables.
Frozenbeetle (Leif X Kabbu) headcanons go:
-Kabbu is definitely super nervous to initiate any form of affection at first. He definitely blushes a lot whenever he looks in Leif’s direction for the first week of them dating. Leif loves to (light-heartedly) tease him about this, calling him cute and everything. But he has to learn when to lay-off very fast because Kabbu will explode out of embarrassment if he’s not careful.
- Once he gains his confidence though, Kabbu is incredibly affectionate always. He’s very quick to buy Leif gifts or food they like or to shower them in compliments- aka his usual behavior cranked up to 11. Leif is definitely less outwardly affectionate and gets embarrassed by Kabbu’s confidence once he gains it. So Kabbu has to learn Leif’s limit.
- Leif’s main way to show affection is definitely less grandiose than Kabbu’s. He’s more physically affectionate for sure, (he def clings to Kabbu like velcro some days) and be definitely teases him. But once the two of them are alone I feel like he could learn to compliment him without the guide of teasing him.
- Kabbu will call Leif so many different petnames: Darling, Sweetheart, love, etc Even some wilder shit like: “My lovely Popsicle.” Which definitely gets him a look from Leif
- Leif definitely doesn’t use petnames as often. But he does mostly when it’s just the two of them. He says things like “Baby.” Or “Love.” And sometimes when he’s teasing Kabbu he’ll call him “Our strong Bug ranger.” Or something similar.
- The first time Leif kissed him on the cheek (Because Leif definitely did that first) Kabbu fainted.
And bonus round with some Vi headcanons in there, because these three’s lives are so intwined it’s hard to talk about Kabbu and or Leif without her:
- The first time Leif and Kabbu tried to go out on a date. Vi didn’t realize it was a date and was like “Oh we’re eating out? Alright.” And Kabbu was too nice to correct her or to let Leif do it. And she didn’t realize this was supposed to be a date until like 2/3 of the way through. And Vi was like “WHY WOULD YOU LET ME GO ON YOUR DATE??” And Kabbu was like “I DIDN’T WANT TO EXCLUDE YOU. YOU’RE OUR FRIEND AND WE CARE ABOUT YOU AND DIDN’T WANT TO HURT YOUR FEELINGS.” While Leif just sighs.
- I also feel like their lives are so intertwined that they don’t care too much whether or not Vi comes with them. Like sometimes yeah they want alone time with just eachother and she definitely respects that. But just because Kabbu and Leif are dating doesn’t mean they see eachother as more important than Vi. The three of them are a team and they care about eachother in different, yet equally important ways. So if Leif and Kabbu are going out to eat and Vi wants to tag along it’s rare that they’ll tell her no.
- She’s kinda like their kid and kinda not?? Because of how the Hive is said to function in Bug Fables, and also because of how real life bee colonies are: Vi wouldn’t really realize that Leif and Kabbu are lowkey her dads for a while, if she ever does.
- On Leif and Kabbu’s end it’s definitely something they would consider. The two of them are definitely in agreement that they’re the unofficial guardians of this reckless child. The difference is that Leif believes it’s one of those things that goes without saying, and that it never has to be brought up. Meanwhile Kabbu thinks it’s best for the three of them to sit down and have a talk about it so they’re on the same page.
- So yeah when they do finally talk about whether or not Vi considers Leif and Kabbu her guardians, it’s Kabbu who starts the conversation. Leif probably sighs and is like “Do we really need to talk about this-“ while Vi just goes “HUH??” Revealing that yes, this was in fact something they needed to talk about.
- Vi definitely takes a while to think about it. And she definitely agrees, but finds it too embarrassing to admit directly. So instead she just buys them both color coded “#1 dad” mugs from Metal island, leaves them on the table, and then leaves the house so she doesn’t have to see their reactions to them.
- Leif sees his mug and calls it corny in the most fond voice ever while smiling and Kabbu straight up tears up. They both treasure these mugs forever.
