I always laugh when I see this image.
The image is from the comic “Disney Storied Placed” which has some one-shots of Disney movies, but this part is so funny to me.
This specific part shows how Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Hans' childhood was. With the sisters and Kristoff, he shows only good times, even when the fateful day arrives or the 13 years of isolation are just happy, fun moments. It's a funny comic focused on kids after all.
But you know the part where I laugh? The image of Hans's family.
If you're not aware of what's happening in the Frozenverse I'll tell you something: Hans is the “Frozen” character Disney cares least about. His only appearance that wasn't an F1 retelling or an easter egg (I include "Once Upon a Time") was this one in "Frozen Fever":
“But Hans is a villain, obviously he wouldn't be exploited as much” you might say, but that's where you're very wrong. Duke Weselton and his guards Francis and Erik are very recurring in the Frozenverse comics, and I won't even comment on the other Disney villains that even those who died in their movies always appear. Seriously Hans is the Disney villain that the company often seems to want to pretend never existed.
Talking about it always reminds me of Santino Fontana's interview talking about a possible appearance by Hans in F2. But in all these nearly 10 years that F1 has been released, this literally seems to be the last thing they thought of for F2, especially Jennifer Lee who hates Hans as much as I hate the prince.
If you think it's hard for Elsa to be portrayed openly by Disney as a lesbian, I think it's 10x harder for Hans to return in a product that isn't an F1 reimagining. In fact, even in books I see this as an unlikely possibility because after all, what would be the reason for a return? His arc with Anna was completed in F1 and returning the character would really have no reason other than to fulfill an item a list.
So the fun of this image is just that. And let's face it, the way they show that Hans had a difficult childhood in this comic is quite comical. Seeing this and then reading “Frozen Heart” and “Conceal, Don't Feel” is pretty funny.
Hans as I like to say is Ramsay Bolton (Game of Thrones) with a lower age rating, even the justifications that fans use to defend the characters are the same. Disney wouldn't know how to explore the character in its essence since the theme he brings is very adult or they would have to make him a joke like "Frozen Fever" and this comic. To be honest I laugh at this image so I don't hate it, seriously "Frozen Heart" made me create a hatred for the sociopathic prince that you have no idea. To have a comparison for me it makes more sense a redemption of Claude Frollo (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) than of Hans Westergaard.
