Arcane Opinions: CaitVi

It's the new year and I feel like tensions should of died down by now this is just my opinion - it's literally going to change nothing about the original series I'm just talking to the abyss and it's never gonna be that deep.

Look I'm super happy that Arcane has a completely canon lesbian ship that's not subtext or a shy glance that's the fandom just ran with. I love that for the lesbians, truly. I'm even more happy that it was more than a simple peck on the lips kiss and a fade to black, or a fucking hand-holding situation. 10/10 I'm feeling fantastic.

I even LIKE Caitlyn as a character. She is a well-thought-out complex character that's a great example of someone living a privileged sheltered life who's forced into too much power and responsibility too soon, introduced to new ideas that make her question everything, still thinking she has the answers and fucking up badly. I don't think she atoned but I also don't think there's nothing she can do to make up for it so I'm not hating on it.

And I am NOT antiCaitlyn/ antiCaitVi despite me thinking Vi should be in my bed instead, neither here nor there.

But I really think CaitVi would have felt better if they had kept pieces of Vi's original lore of her getting amnesia and erasing her memories of her early childhood. Then Caitlyn could have still found her in Stillwater they would have still built this relationship of trust and that's how Vi goes from "I hate Piltover, I fight for my family" to "Yeah I'll join the same group that caused in the death of my parents, stole my youth by arresting me off the streets and tortured my people for years to put down my out of control sister" because it just doesn't feel good the way it is now. And sure it could be the fact that I just don't like the 'rich savior/police/dictator' characters types but I do like Caitlyn's character.

It just doesn't seem like the relationship should be long lasting, I mean, they're trauma bonded now and fans love them so it's not like their breaking up - unless Jinx's is alive (fingers crossed) but like Vi said it feels very oil and water.

I just hope League of Legends continues going through all their worlds and does a series in Targon so we can get some good friends-to-enemies-to-lovers, sun and moon character lesbians on screen too.
