VHT Two/Ninety/Two rackmount tube power amplifier. One pair of power tubes had shorted and taken out their screen resistors.
These are really nicely designed and built. Each channel gives you 90W from a single pair of KT88s, running on a dual rail (730V plate/380V screen) supply. I appreciate the front-mounted HT fuses and per-channel standby switches -- if one channel blows up, the other will still work.
All that said, there are just some insurmountable limitations from the form factor. Getting two 90W tube power stages into a 2U rack chassis is a feat, but it means the output transformers have to be somewhat undersized for the job. The thing is stupidly heavy, and in terms of tone, well -- KT88s running from a stiff dual-rail supply are so clean and dynamic as to make you wonder if a solid state amp might be a better all-around compromise.
