i’ll never stop loving you, norman ratri theory... whether it’s through james being Papa or some other tomfoolery, the idea of norman having even a drop of blood from a ratri would irk him so bad
(not to say he’d necessarily hate james ratri if that’s his dad, because thats william minerva and thats The Goat. but if james papa then you get to play around with norman just wanting to make him proud and carry out his wishes...)
idk. love norman ratri theory the possibilities truly are endless. even through my bias i love all norman ratri.

The way I quote @bon-nii’s comparison of James and Norman from chapters 173, 152, 126, and 154 every time I think of this topic slkdj:
Top 5 TPN AUs/Theories 👏👏 to me
I think what's truly sad for me is that Ray will never forgive Isabella for hurting and manipulating his siblings (and maybe deep down unconsciously for the way she treated him + constantly kept him on the edge and off kilter, but this aspect of their relationship is probably the one he is the most blase about as he sees this agony as self inflicted)
On the other hand Norman....should we go with the hc that he knows that Isabella is Ray's mom...would never forgive Isabella for deceiving them and hurting them yes, but also because he could never forgive her for how she treated Ray (Norman also would have by then revisited the way Ray and Isabella behaved around each other and connected the dots and the blank spaces, hating the picture and feeling more and more sick as he got a glimpse of Ray's headspace on that terrible night before his birthday)
It's been years and I still haven't gotten over this either klfjs
He can understand the circumstances she found herself in and acknowledge all the good she's done in ending the farm system, but as discussed in this ask it doesn't translate into him emotionally registering it, or at the very least not fully nor in a linear fashion.
…but this aspect of their relationship is probably the one he is the most blase about as he sees this agony as self inflicted.
OMFG YESSSS I've talked about this before on this post, but Ray absolutely loathes pity.
How do the fullscore trio handle disagreements post cannon?
Depends on what the disagreement is about, but I usually adhere to these sentiments (from this post and this post on my general headcanons for them, not restricted to conflict just between themselves):
hi there, just wanted to say that i noticed how you’d routinely reblog my old norray animatic every time its Ray’s bday and honestly just wanted to express my gratitude 😭😭 i made that when i was like 15 and didnt expect anyone to even like it, much less be so dedicated as to reshare it every once in a while so it makes me feel a bit shocked and flattered. i havent animated much since but im certain my illustrations have looked better since then at least. anyhow thank you for liking my art enough to do that !!! idk just wanted to say that i noticed and appreciate it a lot <3
@ ANYONE WHO HASN'T SEEN IT YET PLEASE WATCH THIS ANIMATIC IT'S LOVELY THERE'S A LOT OF NICE CHOICES IN IT
Like for the first "shooting stars never fly for me" line Ray finally seeing one once Norman and his family help him believe in hope again, and for the second one there being a vast starless sky (but specifically retaining the crescent moon for Norman's cowlick sharkfin tucked away behind the clouds 💙🌙🤍) because the next scene is Ray's shooting star reappearing once again 🖤🤍
But yes thank you so much for sharing your art with the world! I love coming back and sharing your recreation of such a poignant moment in the series on the day it happens along with its resolution.
I remember seeing this tag on your reblog of it lamenting the turn the anime took and thinking how tragic the whole situation is, seeing a series that meant enough to you to want you create something in tribute to it be tarnished due to fiscal calculations by faceless suits, knowing that was the final impression so many people would have of it. It almost feels like it invalidates everything you felt about it or renders it pointless.
On top of that, you have the people heading twitter or other social media platforms not valuing your work the same way you do, only caring about it to the extent it keeps people on their apps/sites so they’ll be exposed to more advertising, in turn pushing creators to constantly keep churning out new material in order to not be drowned out by algorithms. Very detached and soulless, always pushing the newest thing and barely giving previous works (hesitate to say “older” with how fickle time is on the internet) time to breathe. Some days it's very demoralizing.
But I love revisiting older pieces I've seen before (see the "filed under posts I'll reblog in perpetuity until blocked" and "filed under RENarts that drive me crazy stupid" tags lol) or discovering new ones creators were kind enough to leave up. Even if they don't feel the same way about the series, the fondness they held for it at some point still shines through even years later, and I like sharing that with other fans. <3
I am a bit confused.
What was the significance of Ray calling Isabella ‘Mother’ before her death? And
Why did Isabella only tell Ray she was sorry and to take care of others and not the thoughts actually raging in her head? Wasn’t that entire thought process, and wanting to ‘mend’ things with Ray one of the primary factors among everything else for her rebellion?
(On that note I am pretty sure Isabella only started reflecting during her confinement thanks to the shock to her system that her children’s escape and the subsequent hope at the impossible being accomplished gave her)

The Grace Field orphans referring to/addressing Isabella as Mama instead of Mother (ママ vs 母 / お母さん, Haha / Oka-san) is a distinction in the original Japanese text that's lost in the English translation.
In the first panel of the series, Emma says this:
(Chapter 1)
Right off the bat, Shirai means to introduce a degree of separation that, while not automatically nullifying or lessening a sense of familial love, acknowledges a fact that Isabella never hides from the children—that she isn't their biological mother—for the reader to take in.
Are there any particular sports or outdoorsy activities you think REN would enjoy post canon?
And on a side note, do you think the kids knew how to swim before arriving in the human world? Can't remember if we've ever seen that.
[Tangentially related post about REN doing activities typically centered around dyads]
Depends on what aspects of the beach bonus comics you want to count as canon?
question about something ive always wondered about the escape and i thought youd be the best person to ask
did ray cut his ear off during the escape like emma did?
because iirc its said/implied that he used the tracker deactivate device/emma used it on him, but if thats the case how are they able to place his tracker alongside the shirt, hair and meat to fool mama into thinking hes in the fire??
Borrowing a bit from this post, but they do keep it under wraps (literally) for the entirety of the Promised Forest arc
(Chapter 59)
But Ray's the only one who had his tracker cut out from his ear. Emma cut her entire left ear off, and the other thirteen escapees used Ray's deactivator.
