Also its funny, I think this is the first time on this blog i've been asked about the dragons themselves
Metalicana is the oldest of the dragon parents. He's got a few hundred years on all of them and he often got into disagreements with the others often because they thought his ideas or concepts were too old fashioned.
Grandine especially cause got into arguments with him on his ideas because she was a lot more open minded and open to change.
Gradine being the only female dragon to the only female slayer was so on the nose it annoyed me. So Weisslogia is now Sting's dragon mom and Skiadrum is free from the confines of gender.
When the wars between human and dragons happened Gradine, Skiadrum and Weisslogia sided with the humans while Igneel and Metallicana were neutral to the whole event but for different reasons.
Metalicana truly diid not care about the war, being as long lived as he was, it wasn't the first time he's seen a spat between the two races and saw it as a recurring problem that would continue on into the future so him being involved wouldn't change a thing.
Igneel on the other hand, saw humans as not worth helping but wasn't necessarily interested in helping the dragons either. He only cared about securing his territory and his position of power as Fire Dragon King.
They've all killed before, both humans and dragons alike (what you expect em to be dragons and not spill any blood? please). Most of the times it was either over self defense or territory disputes. Not actively seeking blood.
As to who has the highest kill count......that's anyone's guess.
Age order of the dragons goes- Metalicana, Weisslogia, Grandine, Igneel, Skiadrum.
Metalicana fucking hates Igneel, says hes loud and arrogant (he's not wrong, but there's more to Iggy than that lol). Igneel was just a lot more to handle in his younger pre-natsu days.
When Acnologia presented himself as a problem to the war effort it was Weisslogia who suggested the idea of training humans so as to put them on the same level as the dragons to better their odds against him in battle.
Grandine and Weisslogia actively took in children orphaned by the war to train, Skiadrum found Rogue by accident, Metalicana also found Gajeel by accident (he snuck into Metal's territory multiple times to steal food and managed to avoid being killed so he decided to reward his efforts with power. An equal trade off in his opinion.) Igneel was actively given Natsu by Zeref which is..... a story in and of itself.
Also i hated the plot point of Sting and Rogue supposedly killing their respective parents but it turned out they changed their memories to make em think that, so im tossing that out.
Weisslogia had fallen ill, and Skiadrum got injured protecting Rogue. Both dragons felt it wiser to have their respective slayers mercy kill them and get the power boost from their deaths before they expired.
