Small Flash forward cause why not

Sydney may have been just a smidge off her ass from drinking, which in itself was a rather strange thing. She didn’t just go get drunk for the hell of it..like ever. To be fair though anyone in her position would probably give it more than a second thought if they were in her shoes. To start the day off she learned of some, well, not so fantastic news about her husband, and then had to go into work as if nothing was wrong. As if all was well in the world of Sydney Ashworth. The cherry on top though? Ending the day with a loss. All of these emotions bubbled up inside her small frame, threatening to consume her at every turn. It was those very emotions that had Sydney walking to the only place she could literally drown her tears at. The bar. At some point during the night she found herself texting Beth, the whole thing would be a blurr in the morning, she hadn’t wanted to text Mila because she was pregnant; even drunk Sydney was worried about everyone else. Why Beth though? Maybe it was just that Sydney saw a lot of herself in the young blonde, or maybe she just felt like she could count on her. 

The whole following scenario would be all a fog in the morning...a person pushing unwanted attention towards Sydney..Sydney being too nice to truly shut down their advances, and then Beth. Beautiful, beautiful Beth swooping in like a blonde goddess protecting Sydney from the person. Why was Beth even here? Next thing Syd knew, she was being scooped off the chair and outside, the cold air shocking her out of her stupor long enough for her to whimper, “Did you know?” Tears quickly filled her eyes, “Do you know what they did?” She couldn’t hear Beth’s answer whatever it might’ve been, “Jon wouldn’t have done this to me...Jon wouldn’t,” she choked out a sob, “He wouldn’t have.” It was the first time she had spoken his name aloud in years, “What did I do wrong?” Shhhh...Shhhh. The soothing noises soon calmed the broken girl enough for her to slip into a slumber, tears still staining her face, and tomorrow this would all be a not so distant nightmare.

As of right now Nate wasn’t really feeling his birthday. His mother woke him up too early and his father already managed to get under his skin when he made an underhanded comment about how he didn’t deserve a high-profile party due to his grades which were significantly lower after his relationship with Maddy fell apart. He thought he loved her but maybe he didn’t. Because as she entered the country club with Beth and Cassie, Nathan’s eyes gravitated toward the latter. She looked gorgeous – but her beauty was more than skin deep. Her personality was intoxicating – air that he’s only had in short gasps since birth. She lit up his heart and made him feel worthy of things outside of sports and popularity. Around her, his anger becomes a faint shadow and he feels grounded. Normal.  “You look beautiful.” Nate whispered to Cassie but his eyes quickly flitted over to Maddy as to not give him away. “Not everyone is here yet, but my dad rented out the entire club so, we can all do whatever we want. No lines, no crowded rooms. All access, all night.”

You’re still young, you will have all the time in the world to help serve people when you’re older, trust me.” She glanced around, making sure no one else but Beth was watching, then swiped a snack from the trays and popped it in her mouth. Rearranging, to cover the missing piece, she wiped her hands on the towel once she was done. “You can help me out by going out there and being a young adult. Shoot, have a drink, I won’t tell.” Sloane gave her a small smile, “Thank you, Beth really, but I have it handled here. If it’s really boring out there, you can come back and we’ll find something for you, okay?”
