✨ (because i must) - what is monroe's favorite memory from hs with celeste?

Monroe doesn’t have a *favorite* memory, because she cherishes them all. So here is a handful of head cannons from their first Pride together in celebration of pride month.

1. Monroe and Celeste doing each others makeup and painting the bi flag on their cheeks Ala Rue and Jules.

2. Monroe hauling Celeste up onto her shoulders so she can see above the crowd and catch candy and beads and everything.

3. Breaking off from the parade and festivities for a quiet moment and getting an ice cream cone to share, racing to eat it all before it melts down their hands from the heat but also trying not to get a brain freeze.

4. Buying flags and cute matching pins and earrings and fun little pride merch things together.

5. Monroe and Celeste dancing their hearts out to all the music, Monroe a bit uncoordinated but with some solid moves, Celeste being the absolute gorgeous talented dancer that she is getting noticed by a float of drag queens and ecstatic gays and invited to jump up and join them and Monroe being the enthusiastic and supportive girlfriend shoving her to get up there and dance!

6. Getting invited to a lesbian bar and experiencing a completely queer environment for the first time and feeling totally comfortable and confident showing affection and being themselves.

7. Staying to watch a pride burlesque show and Monroe blushing horribly the whole time trying to hide behind her drink.

8. Monroe giving Celeste a piggyback to the subway home

9. Climbing up the fire escape of Celeste’s building and sitting out listening to the sounds of celebration, holding hands and sharing kisses and whispering sweet nothings to eachother.

10. Monroe telling Celeste she loves her, probably not for the first time, and definitely not for the last, and feeling safe and at home in their little bubble on the fire escape.

“Sister!” Kindness practically bounded over when they spotted the other Virtue, not waiting for even a second before hugging them. It had been far too long since she had last seen her siblings and to say that Kindness had missed them would be the understatement of the century. “You’re here too! I mean-of course you would be. Seems like everything under the sun is here. Ley line and all that.” She cleared her throat before stepping back, tucking her hair behind her ear. “You look lovely!”

he had missed her. one fact. but if she missed him, he didn’t know. celeste was a beautiful woman, now gladly single and ready to take on the world. and him? he was well, a runaway from the british monarchy and a man who kept it all on the low. he didn’t know how to be something she missed, he didn’t know how to be something to her. 

yet he was there. at the brunch, too nervous to approach her, but brave enough to come. he didn’t know how she had been, and frankly, he was sorry for being away for all these months ever since the last time they saw each other at ethan’s funeral, when he had tried to convince himself he was only a friend and a friend only.

but friends don’t look at each other the way they did.

approaching her in a corner, he tried to get the least bit of attention from them. the last thing he wanted was yet another media news about celeste’s new lover -- and he knew they had their sketchy, nosy little eyes on them. “i-- i need to talk to you,” he pleaded, looking her in the eye. “after all these months i just. . . i can’t let go, okay?”

how do you feel about celeste and be honest about how much you adore her. - not celeste

Not Celeste? Right. Well. Honest opinion? She's not half bad for someone so annoying. Dare I even say cute and sometimes fun to be around. I will say, though, I do like her a lot more when there's less talking involved and more...ya know.

Location: Celeste’s place

Monroe didn’t have a solid plan when she had asked Celeste if she could come over. She just knew she could use a friend who wasn’t wrapped up in the mess that was the aftermath of the Mayors announcement at the gala. She made a number of stops on her way over to Celeste’s place, picking up a couple nice bottles of wine, and a full French dinner before stopping off at a little hole in the wall bakery for desert. Monroe couldn’t cook to save her life, but she was damn good at finding the perfect meal, even if it took a few extra stops. She knew that Celeste would be happy even if she showed up empty handed, but when possible Monroe liked to show out. She liked to think back to herself back in high school, the broke girl who would show up with leftovers she had taken from whatever restaurant she could find work at to try and do something nice for her girlfriend. And now, even though they weren’t dating anymore, and hadn’t been for years, she liked to think of how proud and excited teenage Monroe would be of the fancy meals and nice evenings they spent together.

She sent a quick text as she parked so Celeste would know to let her in, then gathered everything she had collected and headed to the door. “I hope you are hungry for French food, I also have wine and desert” she offered a wide but tired grin to her friend as she held up the bags of dinner.

Monroe approached Celeste from behind, a drink in each hand and a ruefully apologetic smile on her face. She offered the drink first, making no attempts to disguise her bribery. “I may have abandoned the suit, it was a great date I promise.” She offered in an attempt to soften the blow. “He just asked so many questions, and then he actually said the words ‘non fungible token’ aloud and I uh… may have given him my anti capitalist rant” she mumbled the last part into her cup, chagrin causing a blush to flare in her cheeks. She was genuinely appreciative to Celeste for the set up, and invitation to the event. The date had been fun while it lasted but she was fairly confident that their parting was mutual.

Where: Community Center

When: mid afternoon Valentine’s Day

Monroe was lucky enough to have Valentine’s Day off, it wasn’t planned but here she was, shouldering her way into the community center with an armful of cupcakes and frosting, balloons and streamers. Celeste hadn’t asked Monroe to help out, but she remembered how awkward and sad valentines had been for her in middle school, and how spending the first Valentine’s with Celeste had made her month, nearly made her year. So when she heard the program was thinking of doing a little party for the kids after school she had volunteered to help out. She hadn’t baked the cupcakes herself, that would definitely have ruined the party. But she had found a nice bakery that had sold her plain cupcakes, and their nice frosting already in piping bags and helped her pick out sprinkles and decoration that the kids would actually like and didn’t taste like chalk. Overall she was pretty proud of herself, she just hoped the kids enjoyed themselves and the cupcakes.

Shouldering her way into the multipurpose room she set her things down on the table. “I probably bought way too much stuff, I hope it isn’t too cheesy. Valentine’s Day is still cool right? I mean, I don’t know that it was ever cool but these kids aren’t going to come in and read me to filth for trying right?” Monroe grinned at Celeste, only half serious in her concern. “Happy Valentine’s Day!” She finished brightly as she moved into wrap her friend in a tight hug.
