– ODETTE CAN’T HELP BUT FEEL LIKE SHE’S DROWNING. there’s too much to process – she still hasn’t gotten over quentin’s loss, which still hasn’t seen justice, but the recent attack on top of what she could trivially call boy drama (something she’s not particularly used to) is too overwhelming.
she WANTS to run away, to take to the hills, but at least there’s one person left on campus that she trusts to understand her. the one person who she can sit beside and say nothing at all and she’ll know that he understands her perfectly. it’s been a moment since they’ve talked, of course, odette can feel their growing distance. after all, emerson and odette have never existed together WITHOUT quentin, and despite their closeness, something about it felt weird and wrong to simply carry on without him. silence fell between them at the worst times. but odette refuses to let that carry on, she refuses to lose someone else she adores. she’ll look out for em, keep him safe, even if it’s not quite what he wants. many would probably think of her as a bit overprotective, but she can’t stop worrying about him. she can’t lose him.
knuckles wrap softly on his door repeatedly, waiting for him to answer the door. “em?” she calls, not stopping, even when her knuckles sting. “i know you’re home.”
