he’s familiar enough with the house to know his way to it without needing a reminder text from jaewon. ( maybe it’s funny, how many time this has happened – enough for it to transform this from happenstance to habit. ) when he’d first settled the deal with jaewon, he’d simply been another source of money. elias got enough of a cut with his drug running to have one client on the side, and it gave him an excuse to be in contact with someone other than the people watching he’d do in the bakery. he doesn’t know when their relationship had evolved into a more companionable one; frankly, elias doesn’t know how it had transformed into one either – but he figures the haze of calming smoke they curl into their chests during these sessions has something to do with.
and it’s not all bad – he’s come to associate jaewon and his presence with a sort of calm that sits deep in his bones. it’s not often that elias feels safe in the company of someone. in fact, he can probably count the number of people that do that for him in one palm – but jaewon has swiftly become one of them. ( there’s something calming in his tall stature, something easy in the grate of his tone when he speaks; elias thinks of it and thinks – safe, quiet, peace. )
he’s silently glad jaewon had asked him for a new delivery when he had. it couldn’t have been more perfectly timed. there are ghosts from his past that have come knocking, tugging ugly knots into the parts of himself elias strong-handedly chooses to push down and forget. he’s managed to hold it together alright, but with nowhere to turn he’s been feeling more and more like someone cornered.
he hates that feeling.
baggie secured easily in his pockets, he stops short in front of jaewon’s shared apartment – and knocks. There are three, abrupt raps! before he pulls his hand back and nestles it into a pocket too. it takes a few moments of a wait, his eyes glued naturally to where the floor meets the gleaming edge of the door – eyes rising sharply only when he hears the telltale creak of the door cracking open.
“got some time for me?” he asks, keeps his words clear of any proper insinuation of why he’s here. ( jaewon knows, after all. ) they can never be too cautious – least of all on elias’ watch. ( @jcewons )
