her mouth was awfully dry as she walked alongside lilo, and she could swear she had sighed like... fifteen times on her way over. and at least another five now that they were on the road together. "those dirt bikes would be really useful right about now, you know?"

but they were almost certain their tone was about as fun-filled as a month old balloon. flat. a bit wrinkled. ugh. riley had really tried to keep her mind on the positive side of things while everyone was missing, but now she was plagued with curiosity. "you... you got a favorite smoothie joint you wanna hit? or we can get one from each place? my treat since you haven't-" awkward. "it's a welcome back...? home? treat?"

@surely-jasper-would it never got truly warm here, not the way that luke was used to, somewhere deep in his bones. the sunset never felt truly right. there was a longing in his heart that he didn’t know how to assuage. so, now, he didn’t let little pleasures in his life pass him by. like smiling at the girl walking... four or five dogs along the sidewalk, getting down on his knee before he had even asked. “can i pet your dogs?”
