Riley Andersen is based on Riley from Inside Out. She is a 26 year old gifted human, soccer coach, hockey coach and uses she/they pronouns. She has the power of dream reality and projection.
Riley writes letters to their parents each day, sometimes penning little ps. notes for their dad to shove in the envelope. These get shoved in a box under her bed. It's a little way to close out the day, and to make sure she doesn't forget who is still out there waiting for her. ...They are still waiting for her, right? ....Right?
She doesn't like to think too much about what is outside of Evermore. -- talk about a panic attack waiting to happen. In their teens Riley went through many therapy sessions to keep her panic more manageable. And since her arrival to Evermore she's been trying to keep up with those mindfulness practices. But they don't always work like she hopes.
That's where coaching comes in. She adores teaching soccer and hockey to the students in town, it keeps her mind busy and it gives her even more of a reason to brush up on her skills. When she's out on the ice she can feel every memory floating back to her, every emotion she'd ever felt during her matches. Recently it's become almost overwhelming - the good and the bad.
They've become an incredibly well-rounded human being. If not a bit... unsure of herself around others. Riley reminds herself of who she is throughout her apartment, sticky notes "I'm nice." "I'm a good person." "I need to fit in, but I want to be myself." "I make mistakes." "I need help sometimes." -- She used to try and hide them before when she would have guests over, but now she doesn't seem to mind.
They are possibly one of the most open people you could meet, once they are well-acquainted with you. A bit shy at first, Riley will talk your ear off if given the chance, especially if you teach them about something new or one of your favorite interests - they will come back with so much knowledge. They can get overly excited at times, but they try to acknowledge when they need to listen rather than running things. She is an incredibly sensitive person, with a big heart. She will always be your shoulder to lean on when you need it.
