Leo shouted as his back hit the ground, it was amazing that small things like that still hurt. He would’ve assumed that he had become used to pain. But he had to give it to Lorcan--he packed one hell of a punch. And Leo wasn’t expecting to be fucking tackled. Shoving his brother off of him, Leo scrambled back, hand on his side as he sat up, glaring at Lorcan. “So much for being a big happy family. Was wondering when coming back was going to bite me in the ass.” This was the family dynamic he was used to, the anger. The rage. “What the hell, Lorcan? Mad that I won’t play by your rules, oh great ‘King of the Vampires’?” The title was spat out, as if it scalded Leo’s tongue as he spoke it.

“You ever think that maybe vampires don’t want to be ruled? Least of all by you?”

If it weren’t for the strong draw of the village, Leo would’ve left as soon as he caught a whiff of his family. He’d been alone for centuries for a reason, and while part of him thought of using this development to mend bonds, but it appeared that old habits died hard. At the bar, he knocked back a shot, having yet to glance in his brother’s direction, though he knew he had approached. “Well, well, well...how long has it been, brother?”
