EVERYTHING FELT SAFER WHEN HIDING behind a mask and siwon had to admit he wasn’t fond of the feeling of safety when it never was. he should’ve been alert, should’ve kept a close eyes on his brothers, and especially so when they were at im hyunmin’s party. siwon knew the host was much too smart to appear hostile towards the chas tonight, and besides, whatever bad blood was between their family and the hwangs was likely not of hyunmin’s interest anyway. still, the youngest bae knew better than to let his guard down completely.
but duties came to a momentary halt when his eyes fell upon her figure. he would’ve been able to pick her out under any circumstances, even when she was hiding behind a mask, blending in with what seemed like hundreds of others. seunghee looked ethereal, glowing even, and siwon was drawn to her like a moth to a flame ( only touching her, he knew, would not hurt ). it was that false safety that made for his pretend-confidence, and before he could give his actions a second thought he had worked up the courage to stride over to her.
«you look beautiful,» the comment slipped, unashamed, knowing well seunghee probably would not be able to tell it was siwon hiding beneath the mask. somehow there was comfort in that — the fear of rejection wasn’t as present as it always had been before. he reached out a hand invitingly, giving her a gentle bow and a genuine smile. «may i have this dance ?»
