*Flashback* 6/13/20 Commander Adams of John Auten Camp 8 attended the dedication of two Civil War monuments in Lindenwood Cemetery Fort Wayne, IN. Approximately half of those in attendance were from the SUVCW. Most attendees were from Champion Hill Camp 17, however, John B. Anderson Camp 223 in Columbus, IN and John Auten Camp 8, South Bend, IN were represented. The restored monuments were for Col Sion Bass of the 30th Indiana Infantry and Eliza "Mother" George, a Civil War nurse. Col Bass was killed in action on the 2nd day of the battle of Shiloh 1862. Mother George served three years and was a pioneer leader in nursing. She died in 1865 from typhoid fever contracted from the soldiers for whom she had provided care. The 30th Indiana reenactors along with the community raised the funds over the past year to have both monuments restored. They had been in poor condition for years thus the reason for Saturday's ceremony. Champion Hill Camp and John Auten Camp place wreaths at the grave of Col Bass.
