I love my dad... but if he’s going to try and talk to me about this shit he needs to do his homework. Voluntary ignorance makes you part of the problem and he’s made it a point to ignore politics until it’s presidential election time and even then he seems to only pay attention to the bare minimum.

My heart goes out to the victims of the shootings. I can’t do much from here and I’m at work so I can’t look up much but if anyone has any donation links please add them.

I'm at a salon because the gf wanted me there with her and I picked up a Vanity Fair simply because Chris Pratt was on the cover... And also noticed that the vast majority of political articles are unapologetically bashing the angry cheeto and co. and now I'm reading their online stuff and it's beautiful

I did the math while filling out new patient forms on how old my dad is and my denial came crashing down... I'm 24 and my dad is 72 and now all I'm thinking about is how there's a possibility that he won't be alive to see any grand children, at least from my brother and I... Doesn't help that the last time I spoke to him he mentioned how he and my step mom were taking care of their wills.

Now that I have had a while to calm down I'm going to go over what those douchebags yesterday said and explain why they are complete twats.

1) LGBT+ people "don't want equal rights, they want special rights."

So let me get this straight (no pun intended.) You're trying to tell me that wanting to marry who we love, use the bathroom in peace, and not get fucking killed for simply being who we are  is "wanting special rights?" If these things, which you obviously take for granted, are "special rights" it's because assholes like you made them that way. People like you deemed us unworthy of these basic rights because we don't live the way you think we should. You can take your judgments and twisted views of the bible and shove them in the same place your head is, which is up your ass.

2) Muslims "must worship Satan or something."

... "Say, “He is God, the One.  God, to Whom the creatures turn for their needs.  He begets not, nor was He begotten, and there is none like Him.”" Quran 112:1-4 Hm... Sounds familiar, doesn't it? Also Islam is a religion of mercy and DOES NOT PROMOTE TERRORISM. READ A DAMN BOOK!!! In fact, here's a great one:

Also lumping an entire religion with their extremists? What you're doing is basically like saying that all Christians (and the similar religions that are lumped together with them by those that don't know better) are extreme racists (KKK,) think any religion other than theirs is devil worship (with trials,) and believe that not converting is punishable by death (the crusades) to just name SOME of the shit that was pulled by them in the past and is still being pulled (Westboro Baptist Church, anyone?)

3) "The shooter claimed to be working for ISIS."

Everyone in his life outed him as an asshole. He was NOT a religious man AT ALL. He didn't pray, he didn't worship, he wasn't practicing Ramadan. In fact this act happened DURING Ramadan, which is the holiest month of the year for them. Saying that he claimed to work for RELIGIOUS extremists when he was in no way religious is like saying that someone who was raised Baptist but is no longer practicing it commits a hate crime in the name of the Westboro Baptist Church. It doesn't make sense and until we have actual evidence to back that up (because if he really did call 911 and confirm it there would be recordings of the conversation) ya'll need to back the fuck up and think. I know it's difficult for people like you to to utilize what brain cells you have but I'm sure you'll be able to manage.

4) "they (Mexicans) are turning it (California) into a shithole. Even worse than the 'brothas' and the 'sistas."

I don't even know where to begin with this...

In closing I will just say that I hope one day you learn that your children or grandchildren are queer, that a close family member or friend marries a person of color, that karma is the nastiest bitch she can be to people like you. Maybe then you will learn what "do unto others as you would do unto yourself" means. Maybe then you will learn what empathy is. Maybe then you won't be closed minded bigots who have nothing better to do than spew your ignorance all over the place behind a thin veil of "I'm not racist/homophobic/etc but..."
