happy national tap dance day folks!
How do you like the flex shoes? They always seemed impractical to me since they make toe stands and flash steps difficult, can you still get by with them?
I use flex tap shoes. I like them a lot and they actually make toe stands easier…for me anyway. The only reason I really wear them is because I have an ankle issue that makes toe stands basically impossible in full sole shoes…but you can definitely get by with them in a tap class. Most people and usually professionals use full sole though.
do you give advice on tap dancing?
Haha, I do my best! But if it's something that's beyond me, I always direct people to either tapshoesandloosescrews or fuckyeahtapdancing. :)
Hey, do you know what kind of wood is good to use as a tap floor if you live in an apartment and don't want to bother the downstairs neighbor or if your just really CHEAP and don't want to pay for an official tap floor? I found something, i think its called temp hardwood but it seems thin, I'm not so sure about it yet. okay Thank You in advance.
I used to use a few pieces of that hardwood flooring that clips together and that was pretty good for tapping.
Maybe if you find some kind of hardwood that clips together you can put it on a cheap rug or something to muffle the sound. That way it doesn’t bother the neighbors.
Also, I’m not sure that it matters how thick the wood is. Especially if you’re just using it to practice. As long as it makes sound and it’s not to slippery for you I think it should be fine. :)
Is there any other company but Capezio that sell teletones? I have Oxford- style shoes so my heels are square and I dislike having the heel taps that are like a horseshoe on the tips >.<
I'm about 96% sure teletone's just a Capezio thing... :/ There are places that make non horseshoe shaped taps though. I know I've seen them but I'm not sure where you could get them. I would try a local dance store...They might be able to point you in the right direction.
I'm looking for a new pair of quality tap shoes. I'm using Capezio's CG09's right now, and they're decent, but I want a REALLY good pair. I know anything worthwhile is usually custom made, but is there any brand you've used that are good?
I usually use bloch or capezio...nothing to special.
I've heard a few people say capezio k360 is a good shoe but I've never used a pair myself. Maybe some of my followers can help you out with this :)
Anyone?
CALLING ALL TAPPERS! I need advice ASAP! I’m try to learn how to do a Shiggy Bop, and I’m having THE hardest time with it! I can do it holding the bar, but that’s it! Any adive? ANY! I’m willing to learn! MESSAGE ME PLEASE FOR ANY HELP! Thank You!!!
Hmmm when you’re not using the bar try using your arms to push yourself though the move… if that makes sense. It might look messy at first but if you can get yourself though it swinging your arms up or around you might be able to clean it up from there when your practice. Also maybe be sure that your weight is kind of forward so you don’t fall backwards.
