Ok now that its 2025 and the alt right trying to get into every space possible to spread hateful rhetoric I feel like we gotta really start considering the impact of discourse that gets brought up. Especially in regards to minority.

Is there a poc character you think is poorly written and they annoy you? Talk about ways they can be improved but don't just shit on them you are giving racists a chance to co -opt that language to shit on them to be against poc representation while not being accused of anything.

Do you want more female representation in fandom ? Talk about your fav ships with women start those weeks on Ao3 where people write for certain ships and make more of those for m/f and f/f ships.

Don't correlate liking m/m ships to be about internalized mysogny and centering men. Don't correlate making a f/f side ship in a fic to being about caring about m/m ships more. You are creating a situation where the only way to ship discourse free is to ship a straight ship. This kind of argument will definitely be used against LGBT media. Don't get me wrong. Suggesting that being a fan of gay things and enjoying them is anti women somehow has always been homophobic.

And the tendency to double down on hating poc has always been racist.

But with the rise of faccism just across the world and the real threat of massive censorship looming in the States i feel we really can't afford this level of bigotry. These arguments that seem minor will have their language co-opted and used as a progressive way to censor stop indulging those arguments.

If you want more of a certain kind of content encourage it create it. Don't shit on content for being popular, don't discourage people for making it.

Shame doesn't inspire passion. And fan works are free art you need that passion for content.

On shippers "fetishizing" gay men

Genuinely I feel as though so many antifujos/radfems think that women being into shipping men is not just icky but damaging to irl gay men because they believe straight men consuming porn focused on women is a core pillar of modern misogyny we need to abolish.

Like, not only are they inflating the importance of what kind of porn people watch in private into being a core part of how a groups oppression works and ignoring everything else that actually matters in terms of legal rights or common subconscious biases, but they have internalized that no sexual attraction to the opposite sex can be anything other than fetishistic and dehumanizing and has to reflect a real hatred of those people irl. If all straight men are evil and ruin women's lives by watching porn featuring them, then clearly there has to be another side to that same coin that women do.

I know this might not be what you want to hear but the truth of the matter is that despite the many complicated problems mainstream porn for straight men has, watching any porn featuring women does not automatically make a man Andrew Tate. And shitty men fetishizing women on pornhub is such an incredibly infinitesimal part of women's oppression that focussing this hard on it shows that you are only obsessing because of a gut feeling of disgust (and because complaining about porn online is easier than doing any real activism for women). Likewise, women making/consuming gay content, even if it IS arguably fetishistic, is the smallest problem that gay men could possibly have. The straightest woman enjoying BL is not going to impact your average gay man in a negative way at all, and if it did it's not going to touch all of the other risk factors that come with being an out gay man in real life.

Do not disguise your disgust and need to police others in small internet communities as concern for the well being of minorities and how often they're objectified by those in a position of power. If it's a red flag when a radfem talks about how we need to abolish porn and sex work all together (but she really means sexual content aimed at straight men) then it should be a red flag to talk about how all these cringe women making gay fic and art need to be stopped because they're a danger to the queer community.

Some asshole said that he's 'superior' to fujoshi because he ships mlm and wlw pairings based on "deep mental connections" instead of "personal sexual fulfillment".

Fuck that bullshit mentality. There is absolutely nothing wrong with shipping and creating smut of fictional characters for no other reason than that you find them attractive. Sex is not tainted nor dirty and at the end of the day fiction is a toy to play with.

Using the identities of queer men as a vehicle to push terf-esque rethoric about sexual purity is not actually helping queer men. I would prefer if you stopped using me as a prop to harass women for having a sexuality. It’s not only blatant misogyny, it’s also more “fetishizing” and definitely dehumanizing towards queer men than yaoi could ever be.
