How to write the perfect contributor thank you email - by Samantha DelCanto
Before you launch a FundAnything campaign, you’ll get the chance to customize a generic thank you email to send to your contributors. Thank you emails are a common and courteous way to show your appreciation and keep contributors updated, too. But are you making the most of your thank you email?
To make sure you are, here’s a step-by-step guide to writing a great thank you email for your contributors. Keep in mind that this is just a guide; it’s important to write this email in your own voice so contributors receive a personal and genuine response.
1. Get personal in your greeting line. FundAnything will get you started here – we automatically insert the first name of your contributor in the greeting line.
2. Thank them. Describe the impact their contribution has had on your campaign and your life.
Thank you for contributing to our campaign and believing in us. We appreciate your pledge and want you to know that we couldn’t have done it without you.
3. Encourage contributors to share the campaign and create virality.
Please share our campaign with your friends and family and encourage them to support our ideas, too.
4. Get contributors to follow you – build your community.
Let’s be friends! We’d also love to connect with you and continue building our like-minded community. Find us on Facebook and Twitter so you don’t miss any future updates or exciting news.
5. Get contributors engaged as you build your community.
While we want you to hear all our latest news, we also want to hear back from you, our community. We encourage you to give us feedback on this project and any others in the future. Your input will make us better, stronger and more useful to people like you!
6. Leave them with an inspirational quote.
Thanks again for opening up your wallet and your mind to our exciting product idea. We’d like to leave you with some inspiring words from Henry Ford:
“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”
7. Close with an appropriate sign-off.
(Your name) and the entire team at (Company name)
8. Make yourself accessible.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me at xxx-xxx-xxxx, or email me at (Your email address).
9. Get social in your email signature.
Your company name
Your company Tumblr account, if you have one
Your company Twitter account, if you have one
Your company Facebook account, if you have one
Any other social links you’d like to share!
10. Remember to provide updated emails when you hit appropriate milestones. Change up your copy to reflect major campaign updates, and share the good news!
We’re excited to announce that we recently hit our goal, thanks to supporters like you. But that doesn’t mean we have to stop just yet. The more we raise, the more we can offer you in the future!
