Cereal #150: Funko Scooby-Doo
We have hit another momentous milestone, here at The Cereal Diet. Bowl number 150!
To celebrate, I thought I would try a little something different and fun. And I was also secretly hoping I could improve upon the cereal we had for #100; which coincidentally was also called “Scooby-Doo.” (And also tasted like actual dog treats).
So...let’s start with the big question that has to be on everyone’s mind...Are these Funko cereals actually edible?
While the answer is technically a “yes,” after eating this bowl of Scooby-Doos, I am not sure to what extent anyone would REALLY want to eat these.
Bad Thing #1: This cereal is shiny. Like....REALLY REALLY shiny. We kinda joked that they are covered in non-nutrient cereal varnish. I can’t say I have ever had shiny cereal. That all changed today.
Bad Thing #2: The outer shininess made them all stick together and form into one giant shiny dry cereal clump. Before pouring the milk I was actually able to lift the entire cereal clump from the bowl in one motion. Whoa.
Bad Thing #3: The non-nutrient cereal varnish not only made these things super shiny but also gave this cereal a mouth-shredding property that makes Cap’n Crunch look like child’s play.
Bad Thing #4: The taste can only be described as non-descript fruityish with a hint of bland. Imagine if there was such a thing as Dollar Tree Fruity Pebbles...they would probably taste like Funko Scooby-Doos.
Bad Thing #5: This box of cereal cost $10.
All that said...it’s not so much that these weren’t good...because they are definitely not good. However, they aren’t terrible either. But incredibly mediocre shiny cereal rocks should not cost $10...even if they have a delightfully cute miniature vinyl Scooby-Doo in the box. On the plus side, they were considerably better than the prior Scooby-Doo cereal.
This one gets two bowls out of five. Zoinks!
I did the thing again. #NoRegrets #IShouldHaveRegrets #ButIDoNot
