The 70's did mold many musical types into different shapes and some of them eventually evolved into something distinct later on in the decade. I mean, funk had some of the best eras then, but the genre also paved the way for disco. To be honest, many musicians in the former styles ended up playing in the latter, though that didn't feel like pandering. No, they achieved the natural development of their idioms with Kool & The Gang being one such case. I mean, listen to their early 70's records. While you can trace the crumbs to their later dancefloor anthems, this is funk at one of the greatest times. The groove is so strong as you can hear on the link and one does notice they asked themselves – how to make this even groovier?

i have found a new kind of over the top but very effective way of productively writing

obviously i still use my trusty writing program (focuswriter i love you and i owe you my life) which is the first motivator, because its a undistracting environment and the only blank pages that don’t look intimidating to me

the second motivator is of course the fact that the program has a daily goal i gotta reach and a streak i can build up. i love that

the third is the very wonderful timer i can set and now always put on 8 minutes. after the 8 minutes it tells me how many words ive writte, which i love to look at and be proud of myself about

the problem with that was just that after the 8 minutes were over id get distracted for an hour or so and not write at all. so on top of that i now also set the stop watch on my phone and for every new 8 minute timer i start, i start another round on the stop watch. then after usually about an hour i can check how often i restarted the timer, how long “8 minutes” usually actually took me and how many words i wrote on average per 8 minute session. 

too many steps? possibly for the average person, but the exact right amount for me. ive never written as much and consistantly as i have in the past week
