I have an invention. we need to make lowkey reverse binders for people with funnel chest.

Just like a tank top type thing with some sort of padding, and have different like padding options for people that have it deeper and different versions for female and male bodies

I'm so serious I don't have the resources to make it but somebody needs to like at least consider this please... Like repost or soemrhifn ANYTHING PLEASE I REALLY WANNA SEE THIS

my mom saw my chest after top surgery today for the first time and the first and only thing she asked was I wanted to fix the funnel chest

reducing my sternum's impact on my heart (and getting to know my heart better) has been my main priority as I've noticed the effect more with age

i think the physical shock of the heart being pressed on leads to some somewhat predictable changes in the shapes and physiology of the body that are easily ignored when the condition is viewed as cosmetic. i think people w severe forms of this condition often exist in states of dissociation where we can't read the information from our hearts (and bodies more broadly) because it's so uncomfortable or pained, and can wind up conceptualised as a primarily mental illness or neurotype thing, and so probably harder to fix. I think existing in a state where the heart is permanently pressed on disrupts the production of healthy biorythms that are crucial to benevolent non-verbal communication between living things.

someone having a visibly physical deformity does not equal consent for literally poking and prodding them. i dont understand why folks dont get this

as someone with severe pectus excavatum / funnel chest, my ribs stick out most severely when i am laying down. the amount of times ive been poked and asked *what IS that* is mind boggling. like holy shit, please dont do this. this is my body

this is my chest 9 days post-op :)

my nipples are still a bit crusty, but my doctor is very happy with how they're healing. my left side is still a little swollen but it's getting better. incisions look a bit crooked in the middle but they're actually straight, they just look that way because of my funnel chest

Can I just scream some love to femme presenting people who have Pectus Excavatum??? Your dent doesn’t make you any less cute and tbh, we’re probably the best partners for body shots bc we have a built in cup. Plus, you ever worn a tight tank top and hid shit in your dent??? Bc that shit works. I am sending you good energy to ease some chest pain, some confidence to love your dent (and the rib flare… the goddamn rib flare), and a friend who will drink soda out of your dent and find it the most amusing thing ever ✨
