idk about confidence bc driving for me is a lot like life in that im faking it till I make it but rly idk what's going on but...

genuine tips for driving ive learned myself over time:

follow through. follow through. follow through. especially if you realize you're making a mistake - this is one of the most important things i think I've observed and learned. example of what I mean is like when you go to make a turn and you realize at the last second there's a car coming - do NOT hesitate, do NOT try to change your mind if you have already hit the gas. that split second hesitation 90% of the time is going to leave you right in the path of the incoming car. best thing to do at that point is just KEEP GOING as you planned. hit the gas. finish the turn. other driver is likely gonna be pissed, probs gonna honk but ive noticed a crash is avoided a lot more when you don't hesitate on your bad decision. i find it fits in a lot of driving situations. hesitation is ABSOLUTELY the bigger problem. now im not saying drive recklessly as a habit just...you're gonna make bad decisions sometimes, and its best to just roll with them when they happen and accept the consequences- they're likely to be less problematic than the result of hesitation

2nd bit. and i think ive seen a similar sentiment somewhere else on tumblr. get comfortable with going the wrong way sometimes, with missing your turn. even if you're running late to an appointment or something - trying to make reckless maneuvers at the last minute to try and make a turn or get onto an exit ramp that's too many lanes away is going to risk crashing or tickets. which will make you way later lmao. cant make appts if you're injured, dead, or arrested so just...go with the flow, you'll get where you're going eventually either way

last but not least important common sense that i need to make sure you've heard either way: on wet and/or icy roads - dont jerk your wheel and dont slam your brakes. easy does it. honestly you rly should never jerk your wheel bc unless youre trying a last ditch effort to avoid falling into a ditch - its gonna cause more issues and danger.

ok so ik it’s early (for me. idk abt you) but i have a very VERY important job: bombarding you with oc questions

first one: i read over some of ur posts abt Roman. whats his deal (ie. backstory, angst, etc) im already starting to latch onto him (also he sounds like my own oc Rowan 😼)

Here's a great place to start! It goes over the Adler family but specifically the twins (roman and naomi) and additional stuff.

I will warn you that they both are whump ocs so I will be putting them through the horrors quite often!

So the twins are the youngest out of their long line of siblings, Naomi is much more outgoing and out there while Roman is the opposite. He's insanely devoted to his family and will do whatever they ask of him.

(His family are hunters and will hunt anything (animals, people, monsters) for money. They are also incredibly territorial and will kill any trespasser)

Although roman is incredibly devoted to them he is still heavily outcasted. He's not really close with any of them including his twin. Naomi is an instigator (my beloved) who wants to start fights with everyone while Roman finds her insufferable.

In their family, one of the older siblings will be chosen at random to take care of the younger kids until they're able to take care of themselves. The twins got stuck with Dallas, who resents them for taking him away from his work. He treats them like shit ie The Coffin Incident and some others I haven't explained yet >:)

Roman prefers to hunt with a bow or any other long ranged weapon, he's not a good at hand to hand combat. But he's got the best aim in the family.

There is one incident where roman failed to get rid of a trespasser and got punished for it. That punishment was to be hunted for sport for the entire night and if he survived he'd be welcomed back into the family. (I will be writing this for whumptober)

Roman is desperate for some sort of connection but he's so used to being alone that he's not willing to put himself out there. And besides any member of the family has to get permission to leave the property to go into the nearby towns and whatnot. Which isn't something Roman's going to do. He believes his place is with his family and that they need him. So even after all the shit they've put him through he will still stay. And if he gets taken away, he will fight like hell to get back to them bc that's where he belongs.

Can't believe you're kickin up MHA out here lmaoooo (nah i love that thank you for acknowledging i'm still kind of crazy about it LOL).

So unlike WBK i'm actually super duper picky about my MHA characters. There's actually quite a few I outright dislike and others I just don't even care about which is nowhere near to how I feel about the ensemble in WBK but I digress.

It's not as obvious now with the WBK focus, but I have high key favoritism for both Aizawa Shota and Hizashi Yamada (Present Mic). I was far more attached to the adult characters more than the main teen cast unfortunately.

I also really liked Shinso Hitoshi (more just because I got sucked into Erasermic Family hell but also bc I do very much relate to feeling like a villain at every turn lmao). Also lowkey love for Iida Tenya because of the blatant autism vibes LOL and Amajiki Tamaki for the social anxiety rep

But yeah, I'll be honest I haven't even finished MHA in full. Like I know most of the major events that happened, but like...I haven't watched/read them because somehow I'm in this loop of constantly getting stuck right after the Yakuza arc LMAO

sorry another ask (not relating to whatever ask i put in a while ago) but after making one of my own posts, im really curious

what are some things that you dislike, but want to understand why other people like?

as an example, i really hate carbonated drinks, but i want to know why so many people like them. like in what world is spicy liquid a good thing yk??

I feel like there is something (several probably) but as soon as you ask, of course, I forget LOL

but I am wheezing about the disliking carbonated drinks. Every time I run into someone who says that I have to have a moment while I try to figure out WHY you wouldn't??? Lmao.

For me it's a mixture of needing the caffeine and personally hating coffee and being allergic to tea (also most tea doesn't have enough caffeine to keep up with my needs LMAO). But also I genuinely like the carbonation feeling because it actually breaks up any mucus buildup so I can swallow/breathe better and just generally helps my throat actually.

OH! Actually - I know! SPORTS!!! I don't understand the interest in sports quite honestly. Or well more specifically I don't understand watching sports. Most of them just do not seem interesting at all to me without experiencing it hands-on, you know?

Especially racing (though idk if that counts as a sport) but it's just a lot of...the ball has moved from point a to point b. people have moved it. oh no its going the other way. dkjaskdjas

the only exception to me is hockey and that's mostly because hockey players start a lot of drama that's fun to watch and also the puck disappears a lot??? so its actually a fun point a to point b to follow LMAO but yeah askljasjk

based on what I have seen, (and hoping i get the gist of what you're saying at least) that's actually very much a lot of how i've personally pictured kaji's beast kind of....like...not to bring bsd in here two but very similar to Arahabaki within Chuuya like the beast is an altering, corrupting force that is somewhat a separate entity? but it's still Kaji...?

uh. honestly - in the most serious of terms, I think I am mentally unwell in ways that would be way more harmful if writing wasn't my outlet of choice.

for me, i don't write to "give" angst but to feel it myself? it's much more self indulgence and catharsis on my end than actually writing for others. writing angst at all is an outlet that allows me to regulate my own build up of "big emotions". I don't recognize my own emotions as it is, so when they get really built up...I don't know what to do with them sometimes. And sometimes the only way i can actually even FEEL an emotion, is to punish something or make someone feel those same emotions I'm feeling. One of the two.

It's far more acceptable and okay to punish fictional characters and make them cry and hurt than to obviously do that to flesh and blood humans (even if it's myself). like I do cry and get openly emotional about some of the things I write, and sometimes that's the point - is that I will feel those emotions myself. But other times it's really about the pain it causes the character.

But this is also why I've mentioned that my prime directive in the end is that the characters always have to be saved at the end. It's the resolution of the catharsis. That even after all of that pain, they come out alive and loved in the end, no matter what. It's really just a LOT of self indulgence and self care for me rip.

I know that's not helpful writing advice at all lmaooo. But I hope it helps you to know that you are allowed to be sad when you write and still be able to write it anyway. But I can understand why it would be hard. It's unfortunately just not the way my brain works myself. sakdjlaskj
