I was doing some more research for Suo theories and I just discovered that peregrine falcons (Suo's namesake) have traditionally been paired with cherry blossoms (Sakura) on woodblock prints and irezumi (Japanese tattooing).

imagine u have a friend, ur third friend ever, after years of loneliness and mistreatment. and this friend is a bit of a trickster, kind of mean, but hes kind and he understands u like no one else does and u feel like u really connect with him. hes loyal and hes ur strategist, u can rely on him and trust him to watch ur back and u know he will be there to see u make it to the top. and then he just leaves. no message no call and then u find out he was never going to stay to begin with, that he always belonged somewhere else. can anybody hear me!!!

one genre of fanfiction that seems to have mostly disappeared since i became an adult is shenanigans-type fics. like not exactly crack but just "the gang goes to 7-11" type, extremely low-stakes plot stories. the beach episodes of fanfiction. i just feel like i don't see those around so much anymore. whered they go. i miss them :(

I don’t think Suo’s arc is going to be about Sakura learning to deal with loss, not in the sense of Suo never coming back. If he wasn’t coming back, I don’t think we would have gotten that line in the classroom about how quiet it feels without BOTH Suo and Sakura there.

that said… I think it’s going to end up being about trust. Sakura has lost trust in Suo, the foundation of their friendship is shaken and cracked. Suo has been shown to trust Sakura and the others but only so much and not fully. I think this arc is gonna be the cumulation of Sakura learning to rebuild trust when it’s broken/shaken and Suo realizing he can trust others fully.
