These are the bugs I saw...on Easter! The first one is actually a picture my mom took. It's a bee with a green thorax:
Turns out it's probably what's called a "Sweat Bee". This is a male, since only its thorax is green, but the females are all green.
This picture inspired me to go out and find a Sweat Bee of my own! (That sounds weird.) So I camped out next to the cornflowers/Bachelor's Buttons in my mom's wildflower garden to see if I could find a green bee for myself. And I'm pretty sure I saw a female at one point...but I never got a picture of it. 🤷♂️
But I did see plenty of other bees, including these tiny bees that seem to be "Furrow Bees" (that also happen to be a kind or Sweat Bee). So I got plenty of pics of Bees on Bachelor's Buttons!
And I snapped a quick pick of a hummingbird!
And then some video:
Here's another case of "aw I wish I hadn't looked that up, now I know it's a pest". These tiny bugs, about a quarter of a ladybug's size, are Carpet Beetles. They eat fabric. Fortunately they seem content with this poppy, so I don't think they'll come inside anytime soon.
Here's a bee in the backyard, and another pic of the Asian Ladybeetle still maturing.
This butterfly (a frittilery?) just popped up while I was talking to my mom! What a perfect picture for Easter!
And with that, have a happy rest of your spring season!
