     it’s very rare for jonah to find himself drinking. maybe once every two years at tops. except now he’s drunk and panicking. he has newfound injuries, no secret they came from a recent encounter. rapid, shallow breathing as he tries to get the words he wants to out. ❝ i-i-i can-can’t do it. th-this job, this t-town. i--i can’t, kore. ❞  he feels weak even admitting it. he’s supposed to be strong, emotionless, a cold and brutal hunter, but he feels like everything’s crashing now. he just wants it to stop.

       he breathes into his hands, trying to find some sense of warmth. mountmend is known for its cold weather, but it feels colder than usual today. he bounces on his heels before nudging his girlfriend. ❝ let’s just leave to like----california or somewhere fuckin’ warm. surf and shit. ❞ he knows too well that he wouldn’t be able to leave mountmend behind, but it’s a nice thought. if he went his entire life without seeing snow again, it would be too soon.
