My Home
I want my future house to be an extension of myself.
I want my guests to walk in and be greeted by a skeleton in a corset and a top hat, bony hands outstretched to take their coats. The opposite wall will have an ornate vanity table with the mirror blacked out in chalk paint and covered in notes and appointments and random sketches for future paintings. A small pirate chest will be slowly collecting my change over time as well as holding my keys until I need them again. There will be a small shelf to leave your shoes on and optional slippers in case your feet get cold on my cherry wood floors.
When you walk into the living room, there will be no furniture, per se, but so many pillows. Piles and piles of pillows, bean bags, throws, all in black or tasteful jewel tones. I will have one completely blank wall for my projector and the rest of the walls will be covered with shelves filled with books and trinkets from my adventures abroad. A small section will be dedicated to my awards and certificates, centerpiece being my Crossing the Line certificate, in all its sea-crusty glory.
The kitchen-dining area will be one of the most colorful rooms in the house. Every appliance will be in a complimentary pastel color and the rest of the room will be white--so that I know just how clean it is. I will have noodle and cereal turn-dispensers and posters of cooking cheat-sheets. On a strong music stand I will keep a large leather notebook of my recipes that will eventually grow to smell like all of the things I've cooked.
The bathroom will have shimmering blue tiles, like the ocean trench where the water suddenly drops from bright aqua to deep navy, and the bathtub and fixtures will be pitch black. Soap, shampoo, and conditioner will be dispensed from clear evil-lab looking tubes. Various scents will be available.
The guest room will be done in comforting shades of blue, brown, and white, with blue walls and fabric, brown accents and carpet, and white furniture. Antiqued queen bed, vanity table with a small laptop, and an empty dresser with spare clothes in S, M, and L. Just because I am comfortable in black tones doesn't mean my guest needs to feel like they're living in a funeral home.
The art room is one of the most important features of the house. Completely soundproofed, with my art all over the walls and three stations to work at. The sewing desk should be U-shaped, so that I can stretch my projects around me. The writing and tablet desk will have room for nothing more than my computer and accessories. No distractions. One whole side will be dedicated to crafting, painting, and exploring what I can do. The craft table needs to be a smooth marble. The walls will be covered in my favorite works of art.
My bedroom is going to be the best, though. Four poster bed with lacy, ripped up curtains done in black, emerald and royal purple, black silk sheets and a pile of pillows against the wickedly high and ornate headboard. In the corner will be my throne, done up in the same Victorian fashion and color scheme, accompanied with an ottoman and matching wardrobe, dresser set, desk and vanity. At the foot of the bed will be a trunk dedicated to toys, whips and chains and candles and other such things. At both sides of the bed and possibly on it I will keep black faux-sheepskin rugs, to luxuriate in the simple act of stepping out of bed.
My closet will hold only out-of-season clothing, but the other door will lead to the master bath, which will have a shower, a jacuzzi bath with room for candles, and floor to ceiling mirrors with excellent lighting. The color scheme will be silver on black with hints of red.
And I'm going to have to add each detail myself.
