"Shell have one or two for Jonathan" is that the same as stancy? Making Nancy a mother just because her partner wants them? Seems jancy have the same Steve mentality when it comes to motherhood. Feeling like Nancy has to be a mother because of her partner

Thanks for the “ask,” Anon! Not sure if you want my thoughts on his topic but here I go…

I adore Nancy and obviously don’t want her to have children solely for someone else if she doesn’t want to. I’ve written a five part fic (with more likely to come) about this exact topic. I know that if she did, she would be utterly miserable.

Currently (as an 18 year old), she probably doesn’t exactly know for sure if she wants kids in the future. Which is fine. Right now, other than defeating Vecna, she just wants to go to college and pursue journalism. So Steve’s speech was jarring… not only because he doesn’t know her anymore (as they’ve barely even been friends the past two years) but also because she is in a serious, long-term, committed relationship with Jonathan.

But because of what Jonathan said to Argyle in Lenora, I think we can assume he and Nancy talked about kids at least in an abstract way. So, she probably said like “Yeah, sure, someday, maybe….” Because this is a conversation a couple in love has… so Jonathan probably knows exactly what she wants and is cool with it. And if she changes her mind, he’ll be cool with that too. Because he does not base their relationship on her being the mother of his children… it’s something that might happen for them someday, not the starring role in his fantasies. His fantasy is being in a relationship with Nancy, kids or no kids. But if they had one, he’d be THRILLED, hence my post.

Back to my tags: I was taking about my hc in regards to future Jancy. That, as she and Jonathan grow older, together, and she gets her career established… she’ll see him interact with young children and decide that he’ll be a great father and that yeah, she wants to have a child or two with him. Again, in the future, after she’s grown up more… not NOW, as an 18 year old. I apologize if I wasn’t fully clear…

To summarize: I do not want Nancy to have children FOR anyone. But because she loves Jonathan, I personally think she will eventually want to have a child with him. But that’s just my hc. Other people may think she’ll never want kids… and that’s fine for them to think too. Regardless, I don’t think Jonathan will ever force or guilt her into having kids nor make it a requirement for him to love her. I think Steve made it clear in s4 that kids is a requirement for him (I mean… SIX!). And that, to me, is the major difference here… one knows her and wants her whether they have children or not. The other doesn’t really know her anymore and seems to only wants her to be the mother of his children, regardless of her own aspirations.
