These are old sketches I did months back, originally posted on discord.

I think I shared two or three of them here, just never the full page. But I know that there are some people who follow my tumblr that don’t use discord or aren’t part of the CK server, so I figured I’d just go ahead and finally post the rest.

I think what I love most about this future possibility is how beautifully balanced it would be. Similar to ND, but different. Almost reversed; Varian being the more emotionally open of the two and Cass being a bit on the mistrusting side at first, but then gradually starting to open up to him more and more. They just seem to naturally understand each other, and can be each other’s rock in moments of weakness.  Some may disagree, and they’re free to, but I personally think that makes for a very stable and healthy foundation for a strong and trusting relationship, and I am here for it.

(Two of these are Rogue AU (top-left, bottom-right), the others are just some miscellaneous future scenarios.)

Just some grayscale Rogue AU shenanigans!

I’ve been wanting to draw Cass’s wet hair ever since I saw the scene for  "With You By My Side” (I have a thing for drawing characters with wet hair, don’t judge me) and I also really wanted to try my hand at drawing Varian the same way. It’s unsurprisingly difficult, his hair defies all logic.

The rest of the scene just sort of formed around them, I think they’re supposed to be in something along the lines of like a grotto or water-filled cavern.

I made this reference sheet of Varian’s (updated) Rogue AU design for a secret project that @originaldisneydescendants and I are working on!  And I thought, “maybe I should post it in case someone else wants to use it?” 

So, here you go: an official-unofficial Rogue Varian Model Sheet!  Complete with additional props, accessories, and a handy-dandy height chart!

I tried to come as close as I possibly could to the original style, using (mostly)Eugene as a young adult male reference while also trying to keep Varian’s long & slender body type. (Fun fact: working on this actually made me realize how similar in shape Varian’s eyes are to his dad’s. A fact of which I was not aware and found to be very interesting!)

So, I don’t generally post a ton of Cassarian stuff on this blog anymore. But I painted this piece for a New Year’s event on discord and I’m really, really happy with how it came out. 💕  So to heck with it, I’m sharing it here too. Tada!

Hi! Ok, so I love Cassarian, and I love drawing. Unfortunately, I'm really bad at thinking of ideas for drawing them. Please, do you have any Cassarian drawing prompts I can use??Preferably spanning from when they realize they are falling in love, to after marriage. Any prompts are hugely appreciated, even if just one or two!! I'm on anon again but I would credit you if I ever post my art, of course. God bless ya!

I always have Cassarian prompts to share.In fact, I’m gonna enlist a little extra help from the Coalition for this one. For science!

So I’ll just kick this thing off under the cut, and you guys can reblog/comment with any ideas you want to add on:

Cassarian Prompts:

After a dangerous situation, Varian doesn’t return right away, and Cass worries that he didn’t make it out in time. Then he shows up (looking a little worse for wear, but still alive) and she’s so happy to see him that she just runs over and hugs him without thinking. He’s stunned by this, and as soon as it sinks in what she’s doing, Cass awkwardly retracts about an arms’ length apart. But her hands are still lingering on his arms/shoulders.

Cass tries to teach Varian some martial arts/self defense so that he doesn’t have to rely solely on his alchemy. At first she’s just basically throwing him around like a ragdoll, but after some time he actually start to improve a little. And when he successfully blocks one of her attacks, she gives him the biggest, proudest smile.

By extension: Cass pins Varian during one of their sparring sessions (when they’re already dating,) he frowns and she grins triumphantly before planting a kiss on his cheek. His grimace melts away into an “oh you” kind of smile.

Cass catches herself acting weird around Varian and she gets paranoid, so she anxiously vents to Rapunzel about it one night and the conversation goes something like this:R: “Cass it…it kind of sounds like you like him.” C: “Well, yeah. Of course I do, we’re friends. But I don’t start acting like a complete moron around everybody that I-”R: “No, I mean you…like him.”C: “…”R: “…”C: “…pFFFTTT-!!! YEAH RIGHT! Good one, Raps.”R: *exchanges looks with Pascal*

Eugene and Lance convince Varian to finally ask Cass out on a date, but he is an absolute nervous wreck. He just ends up babbling off-topic nonsense and Cass just stares at him with this confused/slightly concerned expression wondering what the heck he’s trying to say. Eugene and Lance are watching this play out from a distance and just shaking their heads with secondhand embarrassment. Needless to say, they end up having to rescue him from the travesty of an attempt before he’s able to actually utter the word “date.”

Cass gets dressed up in something besides her usual armor for an occasion of some kind and Varian is awestruck. Or vice versa: Varian dresses up in a nice suit that’s much fancier than his normal peasant garb, and Cass is suddenly realizing how handsome he is. 

The two of them are stargazing together on a clear night. Varian starts talking about things like constellations, and how planets shine brighter than the stars so you can pick them out of the bunch, etc. (simple, but I thought it would be cute.)

Cass feeling self-conscious about her damaged hand and anytime Varian tries to hold it, she retracts and changes the subject. When she finally shows him why, he asks “does it hurt?” To which she responds “not anymore.” Then to her surprise, he gently takes her burned hand and holds it in his own.

Them pulling a Pirates 3 proposal:V: *in the midst of a heated battle* “WILL YOU MARRY ME?”C: *while punching some goon in the face* “I DON’T THINK NOW IS THE BEST TIME!”

Cass and Var fleeing from some major threat and bickering like a married couple as they run.C: “Did you think when I said ‘don’t touch the glowing rock’ I was being FASCITIOUS?!”V: “Okay- In my defense, it was Ruddiger that touched the rock. I was merely inspecting its extrinsic properties-”C: “UGH, I swear-  Anytime I tell you to do something, you do the exact opposite!”V: “Well, it’s not like your calling the security guy a ‘Brainless Wall of Meat’ was exactly helping the situation!”

A scene very similar to the ending of Frozen, in which Varian blurts out something along the lines of “I could kiss you” without really thinking. Then immediately starts babbling and trying to organize his words to ask properly (which only serves to confuse them more) and Cass eventually just smiles, tugs him down by his shirt, and plants a kiss on his lips.

The whole “Garden date” scene from Hercules revised, with the two of them talking about their respective wishes and past regrets. They almost end up sharing a first kiss when Rapunzel unintentionally interrupts by falling out of a tree or the like (similar to when she interrupted Cass’s fake date with Andrew.)

(This one is based on a personal headcanon) Cass being terrified of heights and clinging for dear life to Varian’s arm when they’re up really high. He initially gives her heck for it, to which she rebuttals with multiple death threats (though her bite is significantly lessened in light of the current situation,) but doesn’t push the issue any further when he realizes how anxious it makes her.

Varian accidentally gets himself stuck in one of his own goo traps and Cass is ROLLING, she’s just having a heyday with it. “Yeah, how’s it feel to be on the receiving end for once, oh great Master of the Alchemical Arts?” Bonus: as she turns to walk away, she springs one of his other traps and suddenly a cascade of colorful powder rains down on top of her. Now it’s Varian’s turn to poke fun.

(Okay, I think that’s enough. Sorry if this is way more than you were asking for, I get a little carried away. xDDD)

Would you like to arrange a Cassarian week? Maybe according to AU

That would be fun! But I honestly don’t know that much about organizing fandom-wide events like that. At least not by myself. 

If there were others interested in co-organizing it with me, and I knew a fair amount of people would participate, I very well might consider it.

However... the ship’s reputation is already fairly delicate as is, and I’m not sure that having an event encouraging people to post about it would be well-received, at the moment. Especially not here. We have a ship discord for this very reason, bc tumblr is not the most forgiving place to share unpopular opinions or interests.

Although I love the ship and don’t intend to discourage anyone else from enjoying/posting about it freely, I don’t necessarily think spamming people with it is the best way to do so.

But, like I said; if the idea appeals to enough people & I’m able to find others who would be interested in helping me organize it, then I would love to at least give it a try and see how it goes!
