i absolutely love this scene in the story hehe <3 it's just,, so good,,, i mean, the whole entire fic is so good!!!

once again i insist that everyone reads futurerust's impossible things. on my most recent reread i just wanted to draw even more for this wonderful fic, and i've had this idea in my head since the second time i'd read it, so here we are!!! this took me forever but i am So pleased with how it has turned out- now all i can say is please go read the fic everyone!!! it's so good!!!!

His driver was clearly in no hurry to start his lecture. He dropped lightly from James’s cab before casting around for something he could use as a seat. James watched him mournfully. It was obviously going to be long talk if he needed to sit down for its duration. Eventually the driver dragged over a wooden pallet, propped it on its side and perched precariously on the top. “This needs to be dealt with.” The driver sighed, fiddling distractedly with his cuff. “I suppose it’s my fault, really. I’ve indulged you, haven’t I, James? How many times have I given up my evening to set up pranks to trick the other engines? I‘ve taken you to the washdown more often than necessary and the Steamworks nowhere near as often as I should. I knew there was a problem with your brakes before you crashed into the sheds and instead of addressing it, I let you carry on racing against Rosie. I don’t know how I kept my job. The last few days have been a bit of a wake-up call and I’ve made a decision,” he went on, carefully negotiating a descent from the pallet and looking up at his engine. “I’m going to speak to the Fat Controller and ask to be transferred to another engine.” “No!” Horrified, James stared at him. He hadn’t foreseen this.

after reading futurerust's impossible things for the uh... i think sixth time? maybe seventh?? this scene was absolutely glued in my brain and needed to come out. the whole fic is incredible and i highly recommend anyone who hasn't read it already go and give it a shot, it is one of the best things i have ever read in my life and there is nothing else that understands james so well.

this was really fun and challenging for me, as i'm not much of a background person or a shading person, so i decided to put some proper effort in and am really, really pleased with how it all turned out!!!!!! please go read impossible things!!!!

recently i have spent a lot of time reading (and reading again... and again...) 'Impossible Things' by FutureRust and let me just tell you... it is so insanely good. i highly recommend anybody who hasn't already read it gives it a shot.

anyway, i decided to have a go at drawing two of the original characters in the fic, those being 'Shomari', an EAR 24 Class and 'Little Grace', an EAR GSL Class. they help give a wonderful backstory to Nia in the fic which i just absolutely adore.
