tbh it's pretty frustrating to see how much online "progressive" spaces have turned to infighting and virtue signaling recently — especially amongst the queer community.
i keep on seeing posts around that have things to say, but nothing of actual substance. like "oh it's important that you unlearn your biases <33" — a sentiment that i agree with! but when did we forget that we need to discuss how to do that too? people say it all the time yeah, but how many of those people understand the importance of having uncomfortable conversations, or listening to viewpoints aside from your own (even by people you hate and who you disagree with). how many of those people even remember the importance of prioritizing loving the minority over hating the bigot? when did activism go from "doing the right thing" to "crucify everyone who fucks up".
like everyone is expected to know how to do the right thing and how to be as politically correct as possible at any given moment in time, but we've neglected to continue giving tools to help people actually learn. i've watched the amnt of hostility push people who were previously leftists TO the right — which is super fucking dangerous.
i've watched ppl who were previously rational and caring suddenly start spitting the most antisemitic bullshit conspiracy theories out of nowhere. i've watched "compassionate" people suddenly start spewing racist jargon. i've seen QUEER PEOPLE repeating terf rhetoric — including TRANS PEOPLE.
any activism based on hatred isn't actual activism — you're prioritizing the wrong things
