An angel on the outside

‘You are beautiful and wonderful,

with you, life's less dull.

An angel, a saviour. Do i deserve your favour?

Pretty like tired nights,

something I can't quite reach.

Can't tell wrong from right;

a love like this can't be beat.

Frozen roses, bloodied snow

wings behind your back, you can't quite control.

Left feeling like a lifeless doll,

when i can't escape your hold.

Horns and a tail,

can't see my own reflection.

A little too pale,

I'm the opposite of perfection.

But does that justify, the hand around my neck;

anger filled your face.

An angel sent from heaven,

I don't deserve your grace?

Pearly white wings, over-run with grey,

are you as perfect, as you like to say?

A life so suffocating,

No one deserves your 'grace'

Halo melted black;

you smiled as i wept.

I can't go back,

a love like that couldn't be kept.

Remember when i begged you to stay?

Said i'd do whatever you wanted, so you wouldn't go away.

Don't take that as permission: god forbid, consent.

Because as long as I'm with you? I'll never be content.'
