American Horror Story 1984: Margaret Booth - Type 3w2
Margaret is deceptive, manipulative and damaged. She has spent her whole life living as the “survivor” of the Camp Redwood murders and intends to continue using this narrative to her advantage.
At her best, Margaret does seem to care about Trevor and longs for a normal relationship. I believe Margaret was not always a bad person, however, as we see her in the show, she is mostly in the unhealthy levels.
At her worst, Margaret is deceitful and manipulative. She lies about her true motivations for opening Camp Redwood again and lets Jingles take the fall for her murders. Margaret is also very rude the people around her and seems to have little consideration for others.
Margaret was very difficult to type as I feel the season does not go much into her true motivations. At the beginning of the season, Margaret seems to have put on a persona of being very concerned with doing the ‘right thing’ and being ‘good.’ This persona makes Margaret seem like a 1, however, after it is revealed that she was the original killer at Camp Redwood, this persona seems to be dropped. She also could have been a bit like a 2 as in her childhood she seemed to be a compliant type that wanted to be liked. However, I settled on 3 as I think the show makes it seem like her main motivations were being successful and famous, which is most like a 3.
Margaret is very strategic and calculating, like an unhealthy 3. She seems to plan everything down to the detail and as a result is able to get away with her crimes for a long time. She is also very good at getting people to do what she wants. For example, she is able to appeal to Richard Ramirez and make him do what she wants. This shows her ability to see into how people work and use their wants and needs against them.
Margaret has a wing 2 as she is more people-oriented and concerned with her personal relationships due to the influence of 2.
Tri-type: 3w2 - 6w5 - 1w2
Some quotes to describe Margaret’s motivations:
"I win! I am the final girl!"
"Do you want to know the other great thing about God? You can use him to explain why something happened, but you can also use him to explain why you did something. Even something horrible. Isn't that great?"
"I will make that fat f**k's crimes look like a Boy Scout jamboree!"
"Old habits die hard, and the darkness still whispers, so don't you f**k with me!"
"They really should bring back the guillotine. I would've paid good money to see her head roll."
"Probably would have stayed out on that road where you died if those moron counselors hadn't picked you up and brought you to camp."
