would you mind helping me out with this bump on my nose piercing?
I'm not qualified to give you accurate advice about that, which is why FYNR no longer answers nose piercing questions. (Opinions about a nose piercing, however, is another thing.) But, a few months ago a qualified piercer helped revamp the FYNR FAQ section, which does have info about how to take care of your bump (once you've determined what the bump is, of course.)
do you know how to tighten a nose ring hoop on my nostril? i have a 18g and 5/16. do i need to just get a 1/4 ring?
We are no longer answering nose piercing questions here. Please refer any questions or concerns you have to the Piercings by AJ Tumblr Ask Box.
FAQ Section Has Been Changed, FYNR No Longer Answering Nose Piercing Questions
So the FAQ section has indeed been changed significantly. Considering that those are the most basic questions, and I didn't have those entirely right (some not at all), I don't feel comfortable answering nose piercing questions beyond what is frequently asked.
That, in addition to the fact that it takes a lot of time to answer questions, the fact the Google isn't always right (in fact it's not right most of the time in relation to nose piercings), and the fact that I want you all to have the best and most accurate information available, I've gone ahead and decided not to answer anymore questions about nose piercings here on this blog. It will be strictly a picture blog from here on out.
For anyone who had questions that I didn't get to (there was a few of them), I'm going to find a way to put them into AJ's ask box for you. Any other nose piercing questions put in my ask box after that will probably just not be answered. Better to simply ask AJ.
I'm also going to be deleting most (not ALL, but MOST) of the questions I've answered here on FYNR, as well as some of the questions the previous blog owner answered. I don't want someone seeking out nose piercing info, then finding insufficient answers on this blog. I don't want to perpetuate something that isn't completely true.
Sorry to anyone I'm disappointing, but I know this is definitely the right decision. As for those who are ready to get back to the photos, I'll be starting right on that today. There's currently 50+ pics in my Drafts folder, waiting to be posted.
And that will be it for today...
So I just got my nose pierced on Monday, but I am extremely worried about boogers getting on the inside of it, since I got it pierced with a hoop, how to I clean or prevent the boogers from getting everywhere on the ring or stud (when I change it)?
My guess would be to just use a q-tip to get the boogers off your hoop and out of your nose. At least that's what I would do. Nothing complicated. ;)
How can I hide my nose piercing during the healing period? I don't wanna get it pierced with the stud then change it to a clear one. Is there anything clear I can pierce it with til it heals then wear a stud??
You might be able to start off with a clear glass retainer. The plastic retainers can harbor bacteria, but the glass ones (according to a follower) won’t. I’m guessing there are also clear nose studs available.
It’s best to get a professional piercer’s help with this, so I suggest discussing it with the piercer beforehand.
What kind of girls do you think usually have nose hoops? Just wondering what the stereotype is for that... Xo
The kind of girls that have nose hoops are simply the kind of girls that want nose hoops. Society is the one stereotyping them. It's not as if only "punks", "hipsters", art majors, tattoo artists, piercers, or rock stars have them. I've seen librarians with them, an Ivy league student, and as made evident by this blog alone, plenty of high schoolers. Throw in the originals-- Indian people (from India, not Native Americans), and you see how you can't accurately paint such a broad stroke on all those people.
If we were also talking nose studs, you could throw in a few doctors and nurses for sure. While working in the medical field doing clerical work, I had a female supervisor that had a nose stud.
So... you can't and shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. Any kind of girl can have a nose piercing.
How can you change the gauge of your piercing? I think mines a 20 but I want a thicker hoop so I was going towards 18 or 16. But do you just shove it in there? Lol
I do believe you'd change it the same way, but as gently as possible. You can also have a professional piercer do it for you if you're worried you won't do it right. I think if I were you, I'd only go up the next size and not jump up two sizes. Gradually going up a size is probably less of a shock to the piercing area.
