My first foray into heavily modified polymer guns. Its nothing special or revolutionary as far as modern handguns go, but everything was chosen with a purpose in mind. Its a bastard of a parts gun having started life as a stock gen 4 19 that was added onto with a gen 5 slide and the threaded barrel out of yet another gen 5 gun. The slide is direct milled for the 509T footprint and the sights are blacked out and give a roughly lower 1/3rd cowitness. I added an Apex flat face trigger and trigger bar, but otherwise the fire control components are all OEM. Its also setup with a magpul magwell and grip force beavertail that I bought when the gun was new back in 2020. Most recently, I sat down and ground the finger grooves off the frame with a dremel before hogging off material for a fairly aggressive undercut on the trigger guard. The newest addition is the Parker Mountain Machine compensator that came in today. It was lacking the OEM shims to time it, but I had some shims from another project on hand that'll serve well enough until I get the appropriate ones shipped.
It's been a bit of a learning curve figuring out compatibility between different generations, but overall I've enjoyed the process up until now. I originally wanted this to follow the roland special a little more closely until I learned about the compromises needed to get that setup running reliably. But as it stands, I'm happy with how this has come together and how I've effectively jumped 100 years forward in handgun technology in roughly 5 months.
