The official G6 designs have been released! The art is by Nicholas Kole, who is known for his Spyro the dragon art.

Okay well I was really hoping for new characters, not the Mane 6 again (or in this case the Mane 6 minus 2. A lot of fans are upset about Rarity and Applejack not being in the main cast . . . but I'm not. It's a new generation, I don't know why people would assume they would use the exact same ponies? It's like watching a new Transformers show and getting really agitated that they didn't include Bulkhead. "But he was such close friends with Wheeljack and HE'S in the new show!!!" Okay well Bulkhead isn't, I don't know what to tell you.)

I love the art style. These are also very "horsey" designs. (I pray that the toys are equally horsey.) They have noses, not just face bumps and there is less emphasis on GIANT EYES than in G4. I feel like their manes are also more horsey than in G5, which had hairstyles that mimicked human hair more closely.

I am getting MAJOR of G3 vibes. The mini versions of their symbols in their eyes, the blue in Twilight's mane just like her G3 inspo pony Twilight Twinkle, the softer colors in Rainbow Dash's mane (even has pink!)

The ponies appear to be wearing little shoes. At the SDCC panel they mentioned the show would have a "magical girl" vibe. Hell yeah.

SHARP horn on Twilight, oh my gosh, usually MLP unicorn horns are rounded at the end but this girl is ready to stab someone, lol.

Pinkie Pie appears to have freckles in the shape of sprinkles! Also her balloon symbols are now heart-shaped. Heart markings on her legs reminding me of G3 Fancy Free. I wonder if the markings are related to the magical girl stuff, like maybe they appear when the ponies are "powered up".

The logo is all white text? I wonder if there will be a colorful version as well, as I would think that would be more eye-catching on merchandise. I'd really like to see a rainbow incorporated, almost every MLP logo includes it in some way.

good news y'all Rarity and AJ are gonna be in g6 they just join later. Apparently that was confirmed during the panel. Anyways I feel like I'm one of the rare few actually excited for g6, and one of the rare few actually happy for a g4 reboot/seeing the g4 characters make a return.

Also this art is so cute. Huge huge fan of this style. Especially of Fluttershy's design. I do hope Luna and Celestia are in it though.

So... what're we thinkin' about how G6 is looking?

It really seems like Hasbro is doing everything they can to recapture G4. That doesn't necessarily mean that whatever comes out of it will be bad though, I think! I'm optimistic... cautiously so, though. I mean, they included Fluttershy! That's great! ...But AJ better be in it somehow. I'm thinking she may end up as a side character at best, and I'd be fine with that.
