The 5200 is a glorious gaming machine.
And by The 5200, I mean my Asus RoG G74SX, who, judging by its size and shape, I am rather convinced was modeled after the Atari 5200.
But it's been giving me problems since the start of the year, approximately two months into its life. I've been experiencing what I believe to be some sort of driver issue (possibly Bluetooth-related), but I haven't quite been able to pinpoint just what's going on there.
Screen flickered once last night and left a permanent horizontal line across it.
I take good care of this thing, too!
But that's enough of life.
As for Borderlands, I started myself a new challenge. Memento mori, I was thinking. Because they'll be gone in BL2, I'm using only S&S Munitions and Atlas gear. I wasn't sure right away whether they made COMs or grenade mods, so I thought I'd go survival-based. Survivor COMs, Transfusion grenades.. Thought it fit the theme well enough. Bit of research revealed that those manufacturers do make everything, though, so it'll be S&S/Atlas all the way. Sticky/Rain grenades, Gunslinger/Ranger class mods.
The early part of the game was pretty interesting.
I got an S&S repeater right off the bat from the red chest outside Fyrestone, however, I couldn't use it until level 4. I dropped my Jakobs and hewed my way through the first four levels -- good thing I sharpened my sword on that bus ride, heheh.. Found an Atlas sooner than expected, a sniper rifle in Skag Gully with pretty great stats for its level. Again, I had a bit of leveling to do before I could use it.
Didn't have a shield until level 15, so that also made for interesting times. Moe and Marley put up a hell of a fight, and I couldn't even handle the Lost Cave the first time I went in. I did venture into there significantly underleveled, though. Still, even with a shield I might not have been able to defeat the Alpha, Badass, and Corrosive Badass skags that spawned together.
I was out of the Dahl Headlands before I ran across a class mod I could use. It's been pretty much business as usual since then, though. I had to pass up my first Pestilent Defiler; died a little bit inside. Have a feeling I'm probably going to be seeing a lot of those, alas.
Think I'll try to maintain a low-ish level again. Managed to beat PT2 at level 50 last time around, and so far I'm at a pretty decent rate again. I hate skipping so many quests, but I guess it's more fun to be challenged than to be overleveled.
Next stop, Krom's Canyon!
