Always makes my day when my wacky-ass SU-AU brings people joy! Especially since I regularly inject it with angst and sadistic situations without completely breaking those two!
(plus, at least getting through the main 3-act series at least shows your dedication since that alone is nearly 200k in length, to say nothing of the 400k+ beyond that core storyline!)
That said, it’s tricky to list out many headcanons since I’ve written about plenty of them here already or actually made them into stories.
But… there is one that I entertained the idea of making a story and never went through with it. Not sure if I will because it’ll just be fluff and not much in the way of plot.
Basically, I did kinda cheap out on writing the first few days of Steven and Peridot’s post-GA vacation. I mentioned a couple of times that before This is Who I Am takes place, one of Steven and Peridot’s favorite adventures in their world tour vacation was in Tokyo.
Not only was Peridot absolutely floored by Japanese technology (I feel no one has ever drawn Peri interacting with the weird-ass Japanese toilets and why have you fools never done that it’s so perfect) to the point where Steven had to pry her away so they could move on, buuuuut….
I imagined Steven and Peridot first warping to Tokyo and accidentally doing so in front of a huge-ass crowd. Naturally, they’d be able to tell right away Steven is some gaijin, but Peridot must be some S-Tier cosplayer since she went the extra mile to make her skin green.
So Steven drags Peridot to a place where they have privacy before she inevitably reveals her true alien nature, and he tries to come up with some kind of cover story because they’ve already seen a few of Peridot’s supernatural abilities.
Then Steven gets an idea for the perfect cover: he and Peridot will pose as a magical girl duo!
So yeah, basically a Precure parody. I think the franchise itself was very loosely referenced in canon (according to the wiki) as “Pretty Hairstylist”…
Though I always preferred to see that as an actual thing about hairstyling since I headcanon Lapis as a fashion-forward kinda gem if given the opportunity. And her own hairstyle notably changed after her reform.
So I was trying to think of a proper parody name and the closest I ever came up with was Cute Panacea. Or Crystal, alternatively.
But yeah, I pictured Steven and Peridot getting mahoshoujo aliases to show off to the Japanese crowd.
And I even daydreamed Peridot going the extra mile and speaking entirely in Japanese. While Steven attempts but botches often (or mispronounces words), Peridot’s a fucking ace at it and I was even trying to come up with an entirely-Japanese “In the Name of the Moon” speech for both of them.
I was pretty sure Peri’s alias was gonna be Cute/Crystal Lucky. Steven’s… gah, I mean, Cute/Crystal Star would be obvious. Then Star Twinkle Precure happened and I wanted to avoid recycling the canon Cure names…
But that’s about as far as I went with it. Maybe I’ll come back to it one day, but yeah. There’s at least one Word of God GA Stevidot headcanon for you right there. Steven and Peridot totally had a stint where they posed as magical girls to make the Japanese public think they’re cool and normal and totally not hybrid space rocks. :P
You know these two adorable losers would totally do that.
