Gabriel’s gone. His room is so empty… I sat on his bed today and sobbed until I couldn’t any longer. I found his chocolate cache under the loose floorboard in the corner and lost three hours just staring at it and wondering if there was something I could have done to stop him from leaving. I miss him so much, journal. I can’t do this, take care of the little ones and be good and not break everything ever because he’s fucking gone, he’s never coming back, no matter what Michael says. Michael is full of shit. He doesn’t know Gabe at all, if he thinks he’ll be back.

Balthazar has a tray, wooden, painted, from the 1920’s. The art deco curlicues are edged in chipped gold paint, the lacquer is black. The battered china bowls on it contain creme fraiche and berries. Setting it on the center of the bed, he slips in, purring contentedly at the silk slipping over his skin. 

Winking at his bedmate, he murmurs in a throaty, teasing growl, “As promised, a treat for my sweet.”
